Polestar 6 electric roadster green lit for 2026 release

MANILA: Polestar, a Swedish manufacturer of electric sports vehicles, has announced that it will bring its electric roadster concept into production. The Polestar 6 electric performance roadster is scheduled to go on sale in 2026 as the final product.

Since August 16, interested consumers in all active Polestar markets can make an online reservation on the Polestar 6.

“With the overwhelming consumer and press response, we took the decision to put this stunning roadster into production and I am so excited to make it a reality,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO. “Polestar 6 is a perfect combination of powerful electric performance and the thrill of fresh air with the top down.”

The electric roadster concept, known as the Polestar O2, was unveiled in Los Angeles in March. It expands on the design, technological, and sustainable goals outlined in the Polestar Precept and demonstrates the brand's vision for future sports automobiles.

On a custom bonded aluminum base developed by Polestar, the hard-top convertible will be constructed. It was created internally and will have the high-performance, 800-Volt electric architecture that Polestar 5 has already verified. This includes a top speed of 250 kph, a target zero-to-100 kph sprint time of 3.2 seconds, and output of up to 884 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque from a dual motor powertrain.

Five hundred numbered units of the "Polestar 6 LA Concept edition," a unique "LA Concept" variant, will be made to commemorate the debut of the 6. The original Polestar O2 concept's distinctive "Sky" blue bodywork, light leather interior, and distinctive 21-inch wheels will only be seen on these models.

Polestar’s green light in the Polestar 6 production headlines the brand’s attendance with the electric roadster concept at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and ‘The Quail, a series of automobile events during Monterey Car Week in California, that runs from August 18 to 21.

Polestar will reveal the electric sports car’s technical details and specifications as the production car becomes reality, leading up to the expected launch in 2026.
