MANILA: PGA Cars is showcasing its range of fully electric models in a series of weekend exhibitions that present green transport solutions to consumers who define sustainability as the new luxury.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Is the Audi e-tron fast?
Audi claims a zero-100kph time of 4.1 seconds. Can a charger be installed at home for the Taycan and e-tron?
Yes. Installation will be fairly easy and done by professionals and should not be more complicated than installing an AC unit. This is part of its "FutureNow" program, which is leading the Philippine automotive sector's transition to premium electric-powered mobility.
The Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron SUV, and Audi e-tron GT — all zero-emission, completely electric versions with substantially more advanced features than hybrid vehicles' stop-gap systems — will be featured in the show. With these vehicles, PGA Cars, the Philippine partner for Porsche and Audi (together with Lamborghini and Bentley), declares that premium electromobility is no longer just a concept. Rather, it is already a reality.
The permanent magnet synchronous motor (PSM) on the rear axle of the newest Taycan pays homage to the Porsche 911's iconic rear-engine/rear-drive arrangement. A two-speed transmission and Porsche's Performance Battery are mated to the PSM. The system generates a total of 408 horsepower, allowing the automobile to accelerate from zero to 100kph in 5.4 seconds and reach a high speed of 230kph.
The latest Porsche Taycan has 20-inch Taycan Turbo Aero wheels, a black front apron, side sills, and rear diffuser, LED headlights with PDLS, a 4+1 seating layout, a central 10.9-inch infotainment display, an 8.4-inch center console touchscreen, and another display for the front passenger — all of which are optional features specified by Porsche Philippines for new Taycan models. The Porsche 4D Chassis Control, which analyzes and synchronizes all chassis systems in real-time, is also integrated into the vehicle. The most recent model includes adaptive air suspension with three chambers and the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) electronic damper control system.
The Audi e-tron SUV elevates electric mobility with a spacious, airy interior that emphasizes advanced in-car digitization. It has two MMI touch response displays that replace nearly every conventional switch and control, and the standard Audi virtual cockpit displays data in high-resolution graphics. These are paired with high-quality materials and fine craftsmanship.
The Audi e-tron SUV is powered by two electric motors that produce 408hp and 664Nm, allowing it to accelerate from zero to 100kph in 5.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 200kph. A new-generation electric quattro all-wheel-drive system provides exceptional traction and handling on any terrain or condition. The Audi drive select feature allows the driver to customize the characteristics of the Audi e-tron SUV based on driving situation, road conditions, or personal preferences. The system also controls the air suspension with adaptive dampers, which can change the ride height of the vehicle by up to 76 millimeters.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Euro NCAP have given the Audi e-tron SUV a five-star safety rating, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has given it a Top Safety Pick+ in its own study.
The Audi e-tron GT four-door coupe exemplifies how exhilarating electric mobility can be. The digital Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus, which is controlled by the multifunction steering wheel and the central MMI touch display as well as natural language recognition, is used to handle the vehicle's displays and functions.
The Audi e-tron GT packs a lot of power and performance. Its two electric motors produce 530hp and 630Nm of torque, allowing the car to accelerate from a standstill to 100kph in 4.1 seconds. The electric quattro all-wheel-drive system, which is paired with the electric motors, ensures maximum dynamism, stability, and traction in any condition by constantly varying the power distribution between the axles.
As part of the FutureNow program, PGA Cars is working with stakeholders to establish charging stations in strategic locations to supplement Porsche and Audi's residential charging solutions.
The Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron models both have portable charging systems that can be plugged into a household or a three-phase industrial outlet. The models also include alternating current (AC) charging units that can be installed in homes and are as easy to use as mobile phone chargers. Installing a home charging system is no more difficult than installing an air-conditioner.
Another innovative charging solution for Porsche and Audi is a high-powered direct current (DC) charger, the country's first of its kind, located at the PGA Cars showrooms on EDSA Greenhills. Owners will have access to charging solutions both at home and on the road because both DC and AC options are available.
PGA Cars is committed to sustainable mobility by adopting carbon-neutral processes for its operations, in addition to heavily investing in dedicated electric vehicle facilities, personnel training, and expertise, and residential and destination charging solutions. Among the efforts is the development of a micro carbon sink — essentially, a natural or man-made reservoir that can accumulate carbon emissions from the atmosphere — to assist the company in absorbing an amount of carbon dioxide nearly equal to its operations.
The first stage of PGA Cars' carbon sink program entails planting full-grown trees near its main showrooms and service facilities on EDSA in Greenhills. The move aims to reduce pollution while also significantly improving aesthetics in the area.
The FutureNow exhibition will be held at the North Court of Power Plant Mall in Rockwell Center, Makati City, on May 27-29 and June 3-5.
