Porsche introduces 4 AWD, GTS variants for Taycan

MANILA: Porsche has revealed its trim lineup for the updated Taycan with the global introductions of the revamped GTS trim and the new entry-level Taycan 4.

The two join the Taycan Turbo, which was introduced earlier in the year in various markets. So, in total, the Taycan now has 16 different trims across two body styles. 

Per the company, the new versions of the all-electric high-performance model will become available to dealerships worldwide by early 2025. Additionally, all versions of the Stuttgart-headquartered company’s electric vehicle (EV) will become available in new color options, namely Slate Grey Neo, Pale Blue Metallic, and Purple Sky Metallic. 

“With the extremely wide-ranging Taycan line-up, we meet a wide range of customer wishes and mobility needs. Our three latest innovations exemplify this exceptional breadth,” Porsche Vice President for Model Line Kevin Giek said. 

“Even the first generation of the Taycan GTS was already the sporty standard-bearer of the model line, positioned between the Taycan 4S and Taycan Turbo. And the new edition is no exception. And at the other end of the range, the Taycan 4 sports sedan combines the high efficiency of the entry-level model with the superior handling of all-wheel-drive,” Giek added. 

Porsche Taycan 4

Per the German automaker, the entry-level Taycan 4 now sports a dual motor setup capable of producing 402 to 429 horsepower (hp), with the higher output provided by the optional Performance Battery Plus package. Power is sent to all four wheels, and it can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in just 4.6 seconds. 

With the Performance battery option, the vehicle can cover up to 559 kilometers (km) on a single charge. The Performance Plus battery, on the other hand, bumps up its range to 643 km. 

Other notable improvements on the Taycan 4 include a decoupling front motor for better control and energy efficiency. It also rides on a set of 19-inch aero wheels and was kitted out with the brand’s traction management system, adaptive air suspension, and the Porsche Active Suspension Management system. 

Standard equipment for the said model likewise includes, but are not limited to, the following:

• Power-adjustable front seats
• Leather sports steering wheel
• Porsche Sound Package Plus
• Porsche Connect with advanced driver-assist systems
• 16.8-inch digital curved display
• Keyless entry
• Four-zone automatic air-conditioning (optional)

Porsche Taycan GTS

The higher-spec Taycan GTS, meanwhile, boasts a maximum output of 690 hp and 789 Newton-meters of torque. With the said output figures, it is capable of going from zero to 100 kph in 3.1 seconds. 

Concerning range, the GTS trim can cover up to 628 km from a single charge. Similar to the Taycan 4, it also comes with Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management and adaptive air suspension. Otherwise, it has several unique optional equipment, such as a rear-axle steering system and a GTS-specific tune for its suspension. 

Other notable equipment present on the Taycan GTS includes a set of 20-inch aero wheels, black high-gloss Sport design front and rear aprons, the Porsche Sport Chrono package, and a GTS-specific multi-function steering wheel - among others. 

Contrary to the sedan-only Taycan 4, the GTS version may either come in the guise of a four-door sedan or Sport Turismo (wagon.) Both versions of the GTS have similar performance figures and feature sets.

Pricing

According to the Porsche global website, the Taycan GTS starts at $149,900 before taxes and other fees. At current exchange rates, the said figure is equivalent to P8.85 million. The lower-spec Taycan 4, meanwhile, has a starting price of $99,400, or P5.8 million at current exchange rates.
