Porsche Taycan to take #SoulElectrified exhibit spotlight at SM Aura
MANILA: Porsche Philippines will open its #SoulElectrified exhibit this Friday, June 18, at SM Aura Premier in Bonifacio Global City. This one-week event will feature the fully electric Porsche Taycan and its role in introducing sustainable mobility in the country.
The Porsche #SoulElectrified exhibit will present informative videos and other materials discussing the state-of-the-art technologies equipped on the Taycan. A charger plugged into a conventional electrical socket will be installed in the display area to show how easy it is to charge the Taycan. The event will also include product presentations to let the public see the Taycan’s features in closer detail.
The Taycan arrived in the Philippines in the last quarter of 2020. Porsche is the only global brand that sells a fully electric car in the country.
Porsche Philippines has invested over P150 million to bring in the Taycan in the local market. It includes expenses for the construction of modern charging facilities, procurement of original Porsche or manufacturer-approved equipment and tools specifically for electric vehicles, building up an inventory of genuine Taycan parts, and outlay for other infrastructure needed.
Porsche Philippines has also invested in training its staff under a program conducted by Porsche AG. The technicians are certified as adhering to Gold-level standards, the highest certification awarded by Porsche AG. They are properly equipped to service specialized vehicles like the Taycan and to operate the advanced software requirements of the vehicle.
According to a study conducted by Porsche, most Taycan owners charge their cars overnight at home. This corresponds to other global research data which revealed that around 80% of electric vehicle owners use residential-charging solutions because of its convenience.
The Taycan can be conveniently charged at home as it comes with a standard Porsche Mobile Charger Connect.
The new Taycan comes with an 800-volt system, allowing it to be charged from 5% to 80% in under 30 minutes when using a 175kW direct current (DC) charger. Its driving range can reach 431 kilometers when fully charged.
The car is equipped with two charging ports on each of its front fenders. The Porsche Mobile Charger Connect is currently set up for 11kW, but Porsche Philippines is still working on making it available for up to 22kW of alternating current (AC). Both charging ports are covered by electrically operated doors that slide open and close via a simple hand gesture.
The Taycan comes with a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PSM) on the rear axle. It is also equipped with 20-inch Taycan turbo aero wheels, black anodized brake calipers, LED headlights, six-piston brakes in front and four-piston brakes at the rear, Porsche 4D chassis control, adaptive air suspension with three-chamber technology, and the Porsche Active Suspension Management electronic damper control system.
The cabin features a 4+1 seating layout. It is also equipped with a 16.8-inch free-standing curved instrument cluster, a central 10.9-inch infotainment display, and another display for the front passenger which is optional equipment exclusively offered by Porsche Philippines.
Other cabin features include front comfort seats with 14-way power adjustment, Bose Surround Sound, four-zone climate control, park assist with a reverse camera, an ionizer to clean up the air inside, ambient lighting, and the Porsche Electric Sport Sound. The Taycan also comes with spacious luggage compartments in front and at the rear.
Porsche has recorded outstanding sales performance for the Taycan this year. The electric vehicle registered the biggest spike in consumer demand among all Porsche models. Its worldwide sales in the first quarter of the year have already reached almost half of its sales during the entire of 2020.
