Porsche unveils one-of-a-kind Taycan 4S Cross Turismo for Blackpink’s Jennie

MANILA: Blackpink member Jennie Kim got her own personal dream Porsche under the Sonderwunsch program in partnership with Porsche Korea. Jennie's new custom-built car was based on the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo.

The car has a “Jennie Ruby Jane” logo that the K-pop idol designed herself, as well as subtle accents in Paint to Sample Meissenblue on the exterior and interior. The car is called “Taycan 4S Cross Turismo for Jennie Ruby Jane” and is painted in a metallic black color. The Sonderwunsch model will be unveiled at the Sonderwunsch Haus with the beginning of Blackpink's world tour in Seoul.

“Jennie had very specific images of her dream Porsche. The collaboration was accordingly intense and inspiring. Working together with international customers on these special projects is particularly exciting and enriching. In this case we were also faced with interesting challenges that motivated us as a team to be able to make even the most creative wishes come true,” Porsche Vice President for Individualization and Classic Alexander Fabig stated.

The Sonderwunsch team at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur and the Style Porsche design division collaborated with Jennie in a digital workshop for several hours to finalize all the details of the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo.

“As an artist, Jennie is used to creative collaborations. She even brought a mood board to our meeting that visualized the initial ideas and reflected their reception,” Style Porsche Special Projects Director Grant Larson said. Since 1989, Larson has worked with Style Porsche, and is in charge of the Sonderwunsch work for the design department.

“Being able to collaborate so intensively on my own very personal Porsche was an amazing experience. I’m especially proud of having designed the visualization of the clouds. I spend a lot of time travelling around the world – the sky and the clouds are my travelling companions and a beautiful symbol of these unique experiences. This is why I feel a special connection to them and am so passionate about photographing these nature motifs,” Jennie said.

“It was an exciting experience working with Jennie from Blackpink on Porsche Korea's first Sonderwunsch project. Jennie is an influential global icon that represents a generation of young and creative opinion leaders and the Generation Z in Korea,” Porsche Korea Chief Executive Officer Holger Gerrmann stated. “I was impressed by her commitment and ideas, which went into her very personal Porsche. With the new Sonderwunsch program, we are pursuing the goal of enabling people with very different lifestyles to make their dream of the perfect sports car come true.”

The Taycan's exterior was designed with minimalism in mind. The Meissenblue-painted 21-inch Exclusive Design rims stand out against the metallic black finish. This special blue from the Paint to Sample program is used for the “Electric” lettering on the driver's door, the model name on the rear, and the cloud logos on the B-pillars. The front door entry guards have illuminated “Jennie Ruby Jane” lettering, and the rear doors display her nickname “NiNi.” The current 911 generation Porsche typography was applied at Jennie's request. The cloud is projected onto the ground next to the car by the logo projector in the front doors. The wheel hub covers have “Sonderwunsch” and the artist's name on them.

A luxurious vibe is established inside, thanks to the interior color scheme of Black, Crayon, and Meissenblue. Crayon is only used for the seats and the top portion of the dashboard. The top center marking of the steering wheel rim, the borders of the air vents, the cup holders, and the door panel trim all have Meissenblue details. The clouds Jennie created are adorning the headrests. This personal touch also went into the creation of a customized indoor car cover. The black dog box on board for Jennie's Pomeranian named Kuma is another special feature that highlights the project's attention to detail. The box has Meissen Blue accents and the dog's name on the front. The cloud can also be seen inside the transport box.

Jennie debuted as a K-pop idol in August 2016 as a member of Blackpink. Blackpink became Korea's representative girl group when its first two songs, “Whistle” and “Boombaya,”became massive hits. In 2018, Jennie released her first solo single titled “Solo.”  With 70.9 million Instagram followers, Jennie has a powerful global influence. Jennie also serves as a brand ambassador for a variety of well-known fashion, beauty, food, and lifestyle brands. Recently, Blackpink released their second full-length album titled “Born Pink.”
