Porsche unveils Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, GTS trims

MANILA: After the next-generation Porsche Panamera's initial global debut last year, the German marque has expanded the model’s variant lineup with the unveiling of the all-new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and Grand Turismo Sport (GTS) trims.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much horsepower and torque can the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid produce?

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid can produce up to 771 horsepower and 1,000 Newton-meters of torque.
  • What are the two latest variants of the next-gen Porsche Panamera?

The two latest variants of the next-gen Porsche Panamera are the Turbo S E-Hybrid and the GTS.
  • What is the top speed of the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid?

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid has a top speed of 325 kilometers per hour.
  • Notably, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is touted as the most powerful version of the Stuttgart-based company’s full-size executive car. It is also the production version of the test mule, which recently broke the executive class record at the Nurburgring race track with a time of seven minutes and 24.17 seconds.

The GTS trim, meanwhile, is described by the German carmaker as the most agile Panamera ever. It offers linear power delivery combined with sharp handling to create a pleasurable but also daily-drivable ride.

    Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid

Under the hood of the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine paired with an electric motor and a high voltage 25.9 kilowatt-hour battery. Combined, the powerplant can produce up to 771 horsepower (hp) and 1,000 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.

According to the German automaker, the vehicle’s electric motor is integrated into the housing and cooling circuit of its eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The said transmission now features a higher thermal load capacity to handle the added torque load of the new high-performance variant.

The carmaker claims the Turbo S E-Hybrid can accelerate up to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) from a standstill in just 2.8 seconds. It also has a top track speed of 325 kph.

Besides its potential for performance, the Turbo S E-Hybrid also boasts a distinctive exterior look thanks to Turbo-specific front and rear bumpers, yellow-colored brake calipers, dark bronze tailpipes, and forged 21-inch wheels.

For more agility on the race track, the brand is offering the optional carbon fiber aero kit, which adds air blades, side skirts, a rear diffuser, a Gurney flap, and a four-way rear spoiler. Buyers wanting more grip can also get the optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

Other notable features of the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid include rear-wheel steering, a Bose sound system, and the Porsche Active Ride (PAR) suspension system. Notably, the PAR offers an electronically controlled set of shock absorbers to ensure the elimination of body roll and pitching motions.

    Porsche Panamera GTS

Sitting below the powerful Turbo S E-Hybrid trim is the new GTS variant.

Under the hood, the GTS gets the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 hybrid, but it has a more sedate 493-hp tune. As a result, the GTS can accelerate from zero to 100 kph in just 3.6 seconds.

In addition, the GTS sits 10-millimeters lower than the standard Panamera. It was also equipped with stronger anti-roll bars, a limited-slip differential, and the Porsche Active Suspension Management system.

Other standard features of the GTS include black-colored exterior badges, an exclusive taillight design, and red-colored brake calipers.  It likewise has access to the Sport package, which provides other visual niceties like matte black exterior bits and a dark bronze exhaust system.

Completing the look of the GTS is a set of 21-inch wheels.

Inside, the all-new Panamera variant is mostly clad in suede-like Race-Tex fabric. Other notable interior amenities available to the said model include an 18-way adjustable sports seat, matte carbon fiber decorative pieces, a Bose sound system, and an optional stopwatch, among others.

Notably, both aforementioned Panamera variants enjoy all the enhancements present in the third-generation model launched in November 2023. The said array of features includes the Porsche Driver Experience Cockpit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a dedicated passenger display with video streaming, and integration with the marque’s smartphone application.

    Market launch

Per the German car maker, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and GTS will be launched in the United States in 2025.

In the Philippines, the all-new Panamera is available from PGA Cars as the V6-powered Turbo E-Hybrid variant, which retails at around P12.85 million. The locally available version can churn out 348 hp and 550 Nm of torque.
