BMW 3 Series Touring

The cabin of the BMW 3 Series Touring is quite the looker. It takes cues from its sibling sedan and gets a host of steering mounted controls and a colour driver’s display. There is also a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system sitting horizontally above the AC vents. The system gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The seats are comfortable and power-adjustable and done in fine leather upholstery. It gets ambient lighting from its sedan sibling, which is a great addition to the already cock-pit like driver’s console. The 3-zone automatic climate control adds a huge bonus to the comfort quotient, while the rear seats have decent knee room and shoulder room. However, the wagon has average under-thigh support, especially for tall passengers.

The BMW 3 Series Touring's well-proportioned body gives it a balanced and energetic posture. The wagon drives on 18-inch and 19-inch alloy wheels, depending on the variant you choose.  The signature black kidney grille is highlighted by chrome borders which meet the LED headlamps which twin DRL strips. The rear section is flanked by twin exhaust and combination tail lights. There is a spoiler above the rear windshield, along with the shark fin antenna right.

The wagon is as long as any estate sedan would be at 4,713 mm, which ensures that the boot capacity is immense.

The BMW 3 Series Touring wagon gets two engine options for the Philippines market - 2.0L 4-cylinder and a bigger 3.0L 6-cylinder. The smaller engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 156 hp at 4,500 rpm and a peak torque of 250 Nm, coming at just 1,300 rpm.

On the other hand, the bigger 3.0L is very powerful, with a peak power of 376 hp at 5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 500 Nm at 1,850 rpm. Both engines are mated to the same 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission gearbox.

The 2.0L engine makes all the power and torque available at a lower RPM, making it a great option for stop-go city roads. On the other hand, the bigger engine revs more, making it the right option to be taken to the highway for a long drive.

First things first, the car comes with ABS, EBD, and BA as a standard fitment. Along with that, it gets a host of safety features from the 3 Series Sedan. This includes the BMW Parking Assistant Plus for the parking sensors, camera, and guided lines for the driver’s convenience.

Along with that, there are airbags for the driver, front passenger, curtain, and side, making the car extremely safe in emergency situations. The wagon gets get blind-spot detection, lane departure warning, front collision warning with automatic emergency braking, stability control, speed sensing door locks, vehicle immobiliser, etc.

The BMW 3 Series is up against fierce competition from German automakers and other luxury cars.
