R8 supercar joins Audi Sport lineup in PH

MANILA: Audi Philippines announced the arrival of the newest addition to the Audi Sport lineup in the local market, the Audi R8 supercar.

The 2021 edition of the R8 carries better dynamics and produces an enhanced road performance. The improvements were showcased on the recent competitions where the Audi R8 LMS participated. The R8 LMS, which is the racecar version of the R8, gained podium places and championships in various international endurance race competitions such as the Dubai 24 Hours, Spa 24 Hours, DTM Trophy, GT Worlds Challenge, Campionato Italiano GT Sprint, Spezial Tourenwagen Trophy, and other endurance race series in Belgium, New Zealand, China, Japan, and Thailand.

According to Audi Sport GmbH Technical Managing Director Oliver Hoffmann, the R8 supercar is composed of 50% shared parts with the R8 LMS GT3.

The powerful performance of the R8 is motivated by a 5.2-liter FSI V10 engine that delivers a maximum output of 520hp and 580Nm. The can reach 100kph from standstill in 3.1 seconds and can reach a maximum rate of 331kph. The Audi Sport R8 uses a cylinder-on-demand system, which guarantees efficient fuel consumption despite high power output.

The R8’s engine is mated to a seven-speed s-tronic dual clutch transmission. The car employs Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system which disseminates the torque to the front or rear axle. The Audi R8 uses 20-inch alloy wheels that comes in five-V-spoke matte bronze, titan gray, or glossy black finish.

The latest generation of the Audi R8 features an edgier and stiffer structure. It sports a broader Singleframe grille which is outlined by partially dimmed headlights. The car’s exterior is also embellished with refined winglets, flat slits, front splitter, air inlet grille, and new oval tailpipes. It is further complemented by the Audi Sport Glossy Carbon Styling Package.

On the inside, the R8 is designed with fine Nappa leather trim with contrast stitching on the sport seats. The cabin is equipped with a Bang and Ofulsen audio system with speakers installed on the seats. The supercar also carries other high-end interior features including the Alcantara molded headliner, leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, matte carbon twill inserts, and the Audi smartphone interface.

The 2021 edition of Audi Sport models including the Audi R8, Audi RS 3 Sedan, Audi RS Q8, and Audi RS 6 Avant, are available at any Audi dealership nationwide.
