Range Rover to showcase Defender Octa at Goodwood Festival of Speed

MANILA: The Range Rover Defender Octa is set to make its mark at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed. 

Per Land Rover, the Range Rover Octa luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) — which made its global debut today — is the fastest and most powerful Defender to date. It packs a 4.0-liter, twin turbo, V-8 mild hybrid engine that puts out approximately 626 horsepower and 750 Newton-meters of torque. 

The said setup allows the latest addition to the Range Rover Defender lineup to zoom from a standstill to 100 kilometers per hour in about four seconds. 

In addition, the Range Rover Defender Octa is fitted with the 6D Dynamics air suspension system — which according to the storied British carmaker — will allow it to perform on any surface, in all conditions. 

Accompanying the abovementioned features is a unique “Octa Mode,” which on top of ensuring control and driver confidence, enables an “Off-road Launch Mode” for optimum acceleration on loose surfaces. 

“With the new Defender Octa, we have been able to unlock the full potential of Defender. It is the very definition of breadth of capability, and a testament to what we can achieve utilizing the very best technologies and talents within our engineering division. With its powerful V-8 engine, ground-breaking 6D Dynamics suspension technology, exquisite finishes, and unique detailing, it is rare, incredibly tough and inherently desirable,” Range Rover Defender Managing Director Mark Cameron said. 

Highlighting the Range Rover Defender Octa’s capabilities, the Coventry-headquartered marque will put the SUV through its paces on a 1.86-kilometer (km) course at Goodwood. 

“The V-8 twin turbo-powered high-performance all-terrain hero will be unleashed on the 1.16-mile (1.86-km) course just one week after its July 3 global reveal. Visitors to Goodwood will get a glimpse of its extreme all-terrain performance, including the outstanding body control enabled by its clever 6D Dynamics suspension technology,” Range Rover wrote in a press release. 

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is scheduled to take place from July 11-14, 2024. 

The Range Rover Defender Octa will tackle the famous hillclimb on the Duke of Richmond’s West Sussex estate.

It is possible that the local arm of Land Rover will bring the Range Rover Defender Octa to the country. 

On Land Rover Philippines’ website, information about the Range Rover Defender Octa is available, alongside options to keep visitors and fans of the British car brand informed about the latest updates on the SUV. 

When it makes its way to Philippine soil, the Range Rover Defender Octa will join Land Rover Philippines’ Defender lineup, which consists of the Defender 130, Defender 110, and Defender 90.
