Road closures and construction in Metro Manila begin Feb. 16
MANILA: The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced several road closures in various parts of Metro Manila to facilitate construction projects under the government’s “Build, Build, Build” program.
In Quezon City, two southbound lanes of Balintawak will not be passable to motorists starting Sunday morning (12 a.m., Feb. 16). This is to make way for the construction of the Skyway Stage 3 project. In addition to this, one lane from A. Bonifacio going to North Luzon Expressway would also be closed from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 15).
Down south, some roads will also be closed to allow work on the Skyway Extension project. In an advisory, the MMDA detailed which roads will be closed and at what times. It is as follows:
- Hillsborough off-ramp closed at 6 a.m.
- Lane 3 Southbound, at-grade from Sucat to Alabang closed at 6 a.m.
- South Station Exit is closed starting 6 a.m., motorists should take Filinvest Exit
- Only the Alabang-Zapote Northbound ramp is open starting Feb. 16 from Monday to Friday, 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.
These roads are expected to be closed for about three months, contingent to the construction work. Bus drivers and heavy vehicles are advised not to enter the southbound portion of the elevated Skyway.
