Rolls-Royce creates bespoke Black Badge Ghost inspired by solar eclipse

MANILA: Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has unveiled the Black Badge Ghost Ekleipsis Private Collection inspired by the solar eclipse phenomenon.

The Black Badge Ghost Ekleipsis was launched on Saturday, coinciding with the solar eclipse that was seen in parts of the Western Hemisphere.

This limited-edition Black Badge Ghost is finished in a bespoke Lyrical Copper paint, which was made from powdered copper pigment and produces a dramatic iridescence when hit by the light. Mandarin accents are also applied, representing the transition from light to darkness when the moon covers the sun when there is a solar eclipse.

1,846 laser-etched lights were positioned on the illuminated fascia to depict the stars in a symbolic timeline of a solar eclipse.

The Black Badge Ghost Ekleipsis is also designed with a fully bespoke Starlight Headliner with a special eclipse-inspired animation. When the doors are closed and the engine is started, the "stars" in the headliner darken, replicating the solar eclipse phenomenon. This animation is visible for seven minutes and 31 seconds - the longest possible duration of a total solar eclipse.

Bi-colored seats with a unique perforated pattern also represent the mesmerizing moment of a solar eclipse. The Mandarin leather is tinted in a black shade and is perforated to reveal the contrasting color underneath.

Other bespoke touches include illuminated tread plates, umbrellas with Mandarin piping concealed in the doors, and an indoor car cover with the Private Collection's wordmark.

Only 25 units of the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ekleipsis will be produced, all of which have been reserved for clients all over the world.
