‘Safer and smarter’ grocery shopping at Shell Select
MANILA: Physical distancing and other safety measures will surely need to be conscientiously enforced to help curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus — regardless of the form quarantine. With the safety of the public in mind, energy firm Shell said its Shell Select convenience stores “have taken measures to improve customer and staff safety.” It is also upping its assortment of groceries, fresh and frozen food, and household essentials for the added customer convenience. In a release, the energy company positioned Select as an option to “fulfill… shopping missions (at) a fraction of the time” compared to congested typical groceries, with free and available parking.
Shell insisted it continues to be “driven by its culture of health, safety and security, resulting in stringent measures put in place to improve customer and staff well-being. These safety measures including plastic shields at the counter, hourly staff self-sanitation guidelines, and reminders.” It reminded that as the country adjusts to the new reality with COVID-19, businesses also have to evolve new practices to both ensure service and safety.
Shell Select pioneered the concept of a service station-based, 24-hour convenience store in the country, with its first outlet going into service in 1993 at the North Luzon Tollway Shell station. Meanwhile, the first Select Café opened on August 1998 in Shell Magallanes.
