San Miguel Infrastructure donates Petron fuel to DOTr, MMDA
MANILA: Aside from donating equipment and supplies including drinking water, disinfection items and food supplies, and personal protective gear to health workers and people manning checkpoints — and waiving their toll fees, San Miguel Corporation continues its generosity during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
Through subsidiaries Petron Corporation and SMC Infrastructure, a further P3.9 million worth of fuel has been donated to the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) in order to fund the Free Ride for Health Workers Program.
Some 54,000 liters of fuel, or 50 liters per day per vehicle have been set aside for 60 buses and it can be claimed using Petron e-fuel cards donated by SMC Infrastructure.
“We are amazed at how everybody is pulling together to fight this battle. For our part, we will not stop looking for opportunities to help. In times like this, we should look out for each other even more,” SMC president Ramon Ang said.
In addition, Ginebra San Miguel, Inc (GSMI) facilities have been repurposed to produce 70% ethyl alcohol. To date, approximately 518,340 liters or P38.9 million worth of ethyl alcohol has been produced and distributed to various hospitals, local government units, and government agencies.
