Shell PH introduces Silang, Cavite station as first-ever ‘site of the future’
MANILA: Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation (PSPC) recently launched its first-ever “site of the future” in Acienda Silang, Cavite. This is positioned to become a global blueprint for mobility stations committed on improving customer experiences, enabling more forms of transportation, and reducing carbon footprint through innovation.
In a virtual launch event, Shell introduced the site’s special features and modern design, which prioritizes the customers’ needs. The company also uses the new site as a venue to promote sustainability and inclusive mobility as it comes with dedicated service areas for cyclists.
According to Shell International Petroleum Corporations Executive Vice President for Downstream Mobility Istvan Kapitany, the "site of the future" will contribute to the brand’s “mobility ambition” as Shell has been expanding significantly in the country. In a statement, he said, “We need to be a force for good in the Philippines by bringing all the international standards that we have. We are not only going into changes but shaping the changes with world class operations.”
In parallel, PSPC Chairman and Senior Vice President for Mobility Network Min Yih Tan stated, “Shell has invested consistently in mobility and the energy transition. This is more than a site opening; this is symbolic of our commitment of how we want to grow in the Philippines. This is not just a site of the future, but the mobility site of today. Anything that we do provides value not just to customers but to society from convenience of motorists and even decarbonizing, which is the hallmark of the future.”
The site of the future’s customer-centric design is developed by Shell in collaboration with international hospitality and retail design agency UXUS to deliver convenience, sustainability, and well-being.
PSPC Vice President and General Manager for Mobility Randy Del Valle describes this as the “customer experience of the future.” He said, “Merging global expertise and local insights for the vision of the future makes it more than a fuel station but a destination. We are catering to the needs of people on the move from cyclists to pedestrians and even those at home with on-demand services. The site of the future is an example of how mobility can keep moving the Philippines forward.”
One of the site’s noteworthy features is the al fresco area for cyclists which comes with specially designed stop-and-go bicycle racks. Shell incorporated this feature in the new site to encourage more Filipinos to use active transportation.
In addition to the essentials and food selections at Shell Select, the station has also partnered with popular food brands to satisfy customers’ food cravings. It also offers a seamless and rewarding customer experience through digital payments and the Shell Go+ mobile app.
To conduct energy-efficient operations with lower carbon emissions, the mobility station is equipped with solar panels and rain catchers. The walls and outdoor chairs and tables are made of eco-bricks upcycled from used plastics.
“It is the whole that is the sum of its parts. The combination of integrated offers is what is interesting and what we will take beyond the Philippines to the rest of the world,” Tan added.
Tan also revealed that Shell is planning to establish five more sites of the future to extend these special features and offers to more Filipinos and help set the national economy in motion with the improved mobility of people, products, and services.
“We acknowledge our integral role in powering progress. We move industries and build economies, which is why every Filipino on the move is at the heart of what we do,” Tan stated.
The virtual launch was also graced by Shell Eastern Petroleum Pte Ltd. Senior Vice President for Mobility East Amr Adel, Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary Mark Steven Pastor, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Philippines Deputy Head of Mission Pieter Terpstra, and Silang, Cavite Mayor Socorro Rosario “Corie” Poblete.
