According to SPC, the launching of the newest Shell Recharge site is eyed to ease the range anxiety of electric vehicle (EV) owners when going to the north of Luzon.
The latest site is 250 kilometers from Metro Manila (basically a four-hour drive). It offers a convenient way for EV owners to reach popular destinations in the region like La Union, Baguio, and Vigan and enjoy zero-tailpipe emissions.
SPC also noted that the Shell Recharge TPLEX site has chargers that can juice up four EV units simultaneously. It includes a 180-kilowatt (kW) DC ultra-rapid charger with two CCS2 charging points, suitable for most EV brands such as Hyundai, Lexus, Kia, Audi, Porsche, Jaguar, Land Rover, and BMW. The stations, SPC explained, can charge an EV from 10-80 percent battery life in under 30 minutes. In addition, there are a pair of 22kW AC charging points for those who want to take a longer break at the Shell Mobility station.
Further, SPC said that while recharging their vehicles, customers may also grab food or drinks at Shell Select or from the newly-launched Shell Café located on-site.
“To ensure a seamless charging experience for long-distance EV journeys, it’s crucial to have fast, high-performance charging infrastructure and on-site convenience amenities. Shell is ready to evolve its Mobility offers aligned to the needs of our customers today and the future,” SPC Vice President for Mobility Randy Del Valle said.
Moreover, the new Shell Recharge chargers are fully registered and accredited by the Department of Energy (DOE).
Earlier this year, Shell Pilipinas signed a tripartite agreement with Shell Energy Philippines, Inc. (SEPH) and DOE to conduct a pilot study on EV charging stations powered by renewable energy such as solar.
