Sportage is Kia's global best-seller for May 2024

 

MANILA: Kia reports it sold 264,313 units in May 2024. The South Korean brand's leading model during this period was the Sportage, which sold 46,025 units in the global market. 

At the same time, the sales figure mentioned above represents a 2.1 percent year-on-year decrease for the Korean marque. 

Following the Sportage is the Seltos, which secured a global unit sales figure of 21,524 for May 2024. The K3 (Kia Forte) sedan, meanwhile, gained the third spot for the brand’s May 2024 global sales, with 21,285 units.

In total, the company saw 217,819 vehicles drive off its dealership lots from around the world in May 2024. The latter is equivalent to a 0.6 percent year-on-year drop. 

In relation to Kia’s down-trending global sales figures, its domestic figures saw a slump as well. According to the carmaker, 46,110 units were handed over to customers in the brand’s home country. The latter is equivalent to an 8.3 percent year-on-year decrease. 

In The Land of the Morning Calm, the automobile firm’s best-seller for the period in question was the Sorento, which clocked in 7,487 sales. Within the company’s home turf, the said sports utility vehicle (SUV) is followed by the Carnival mini-van, which saw 7,211 units sold, and the Sportage, at 6,644 units sold

On a year-to-date (from January to May 2024) basis, the manufacturer says it saw 1,286,111 in unit total sales, covering both overseas and domestic markets. The aforementioned figure represents a 0.9 percent downtick in year-to-date sales.

To continue its global growth, the carmaker shared its strategy of selling attractive products such as the Kia EV9 fully-electric vehicle. The latter has already garnered international automotive accolades, such as the 2024 World Car of the Year, as well as the 2024 World Electric Car of the Year at this year’s World Car Awards.
