SsangYong Tivoli SUV Likely to be Roofless
MANILA: The fourth largest South Korean auto manufacturer has left out signs in the automotive market of making its popular SUV, a convertible road machine. Yes, you heard that right, Ssangyong Tivoli SUV is set to go roofless. With the company’s plan to foot the Philippines market once again in accordance with the Berjaya Group of Companies, the brand is also planning to entice its customers with a convertible version of Tivoli SUV.
The Tivoli SUV has been impressive for the brand and has attracted impressive of sales in the past. The clay model is already in the preparation phase and designers are working day in and day out to make the project happen. While some of the experts are indicating that it won’t get to the final stage whereas others consider it to be a revolutionary plan. However, the final call hasn’t been made yet and we are still seeking substantial statement from the company’s part.
If Tivoli gets the convertible version then, it would mould the vehicle in a 3-door version as it would come with an electronic retractable soft top, which would require more space at the rear once folded down. The soft top implies that the high strength material will used in the making of the SUV that would add some extra Kgs to the overall weight of the vehicle and would also increase the running costs.
Talking about the Tivoli convertible specs, it is expected to get the same 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol and diesel engines coupled to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission system. The only issue with this SUV is its increased weight which might affect its fuel economy in a negative manner.
Challenging the likes of open-top Range Rover Evoque, the new Tivoli convertible would certainly spice up the SUV segment, especially with the price tag it will carry. No matter how hard the South Korean automaker does behind the curtains to produce the convertible version of the Tivoli, it would definitely be priced lower than Evoque.
