Stunning Turquoise color option of Volkswagen T-Cross now available

MANILA: Volkswagen Philippines has added new color choices to the T-Cross.

Makena Turquoise, Pure White, and Moonstone Grey are the new colors for the 2023 VW T-Cross, according to Volkswagen Philippines. The most recent hues will complement the Syringa Violet, Tribu Yellow, and Romance Red T-Cross color selections now available.

A few weeks ago, the German automaker's local distributor unveiled a teaser with the slogan "A new color for the new you," sparking speculation over whether the business would be introducing its Tharu model or, as is the case here, adding new color options to its subcompact crossover.

Philippine-spec 2023 Volkswagen T-Cross

The current T-Cross in the market was first launched in 2021.

In 2019, the T-Cross won the Best Compact SUV Award at the BusinessCar Awards in the UK, the Best Exterior Volume Brand Award at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany, and the Compact SUV of the Year Award at the UOL Carros and L'Auto Preferita in Brazil. Since the crossover's global debut in 2018, it has received recognition from various award-giving bodies for its "multifaceted design and engineering excellence." In the 2020 Continental Tyres Irish Vehicle of the Year in Ireland, it was acclaimed as the Small SUV of the Year after a year. At the fifth annual Cars.co.za Consumer Awards in South Africa, the T-Cross also won the Compact Family Vehicle category.

Volkswagen's three major production sites are located in Brazil, China, and Germany, and they all work on the T-Cross. The T-Cross sold about 300,000 copies globally in 2020 despite the COVID-19 epidemic, and as of March 2021, it had been formally introduced in 55 nations. Because of its amazing details and features that would undoubtedly fit the dynamic requirements and lifestyles of its owners, the subcompact SUV has seen great success in terms of both domestic and international sales.

The Volkswagen T-Cross is 4,218mm long, 1,760mm wide, and 1,599mm height from the outside. Its contemporary exterior design is highlighted by the radiator grille with chrome molding, LED headlights, roof rail, rear spoiler, panoramic sunroof, and alloy wheels. For improved visibility, the T-Cross also includes daytime running lights, front and rear fog lamps, and other features. Heat insulation glass, an intermittent front wiper, and an electronic outside rearview mirror with a side turn lamp are further exterior elements.

The leather and fabric seats in the SUV's interior can be manually adjusted in six distinct positions for the driver and four different positions for the front passenger. There is an armrest in the front center section as well. All seats feature an ergonomic design that is kind on the back and helps to relax the back muscles, even on lengthy trips. For added comfort, the T-Cross also features a manual air-conditioning system with a pollen filter and a rear vent.

Under the SUV’s hood is a 1,498-cc Euro 6-compliant multi-point injection (MPI) gasoline engine with BlueMotion technology that helps in improving fuel economy and reducing emissions. The engine delivers a maximum power output of 113ps at 6,000rpm and maximum torque of 145Nm at 3,900rpm. The six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive system allow the vehicle to automatically adapt to the driving style and road condition for a more convenient and smoother drive. The T-Cross has the ability to accelerate from zero to 100kph in 13.3 seconds, up to a top speed of 185kph.

2023 Volkswagen Cross Santana

VW Philippines – increasing its reliance on products sourced from the Chinese market — offers another subcompact crossover in the form of the Cross Santana. The 2023 Volkswagen Cross Santana 180 MPI AT is priced at P1.098-million.

The Cross Santana's exterior is relatively similar to the GTS's, but it has body cladding and, on the Philippine-spec vehicle, blacked-out wheels that give it a sportier look. A sunroof surrounded by two roof rails and Cross Santana decals on the back passenger doors are further attractive elements.

Interior characteristics of the Cross Santana are the same as those of their platform counterparts. It is equipped with a 7-inch infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and has six speakers. Standard features include a sunroof and seats with a leather and fabric mix with red stitching.

Despite not being mentioned on the SAIC VW website, SAIC Volkswagen debuted the Cross Santana in 2016 for the Chinese market. In addition, sources claim that the Santana lineup was formally discontinued in 2022.
