Subaru Global Platform Introduced for the Next Generation Model Line-Up

MANILA: The Subaru automobiles are manufactured by Fuji Heavy Industries that will now underpin the 2016 models with a modular architecture. This platform is said to be developed under the Subaru initiative “Prominence 2020” that is believed to have a strong impact on the vehicle's performance. Also, it will enable the brand to produce safest cars of all times. Unfortunately, there hasn't been much information floated, however from the few hints dropped, it can be inferred that it will be dynamic and comfortable in its orientation. The Subaru Global Platform, being a new architecture is expandable, which will be set up on the small/C-segment car (hatchback) versions and on SUV's. Additionally, it will have the provision to facilitate accommodation to all categories of powertrains ranging from Hybrid to Plug-in hybrid.

In the very recent context, we could see this brand coming up with the news of achieving the 15th Million Boxer Engine Production mark. The boxer engine is perceived to influence the car with attributes like Safety, Performance and Handling. By now, it's just another step towards making a mark for itself, with much deeper impact. Both these technologies can be termed as the path breaking efforts to create a niche, on the fast paced automobile industry, where Subaru still has an edge over the competitors through this new set of blended platforms. Moving back to the point under discussion, the company aims at the offering a new chassis, which will have straight line stability, noise and vibration suppression along with higher levels of comfort. The aforementioned platform is said to have 70% more rigidity in comparison to the prevalent chassis. Further, it will lead to lower center of gravity along with body mounted rear stabilizers and enriched vehicle dynamics.

Yasuyuki Yoshinaga (President: Fuji Heavy Industries) stated that: “The Subaru Global Platform lifts Subaru’s automotive technology to new heights, and marks the next step in the evolution of "Enjoyment and Peace of Mind,” the value that Subaru offers to its customers." It is quite certain that this new platform signifies that it produces vehicles on the path of being traditional as well as in conjunction with the consumers need based demands. Nonetheless the designs are made very alluring that pleases the customers and make the ride very enjoyable at the same time.

Another interesting fact about this new Subaru platform is that is known to be a blend of some major platforms like VW's MQB toolkit, BMW's UKL Platform and the Volvo's Scalable Architecture. Lastly, we would now be able to see this technology implementation in the next- generation Impreza. It is planned to make a debut hopefully this year, and will most likely bring a revolution in the Philippines automotive world too. In the end, it is doubtless to state that curiosity of the car fanatics will amplify, owing to the fact that they will now witness another brand having safety features at par with the globally known safest brand Volvo.
