Suzuki starts sales of all-new Swift in India

MANILA: After making it available for retail in Japan since December 2023, Suzuki has also started the sales of the all-new Swift in India.

The compact car manufacturer made the announcement in a statement, sharing that its Indian subsidiary Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) will begin selling the nameplate’s fourth-generation model — manufactured at Suzuki Motor Gujarat — there.

Although its overall aesthetics does not fall far from the Philippine-spec offering that sports a rounded shape and is powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder Z12E engine.

It also comes with six airbags as standard equipment for all grades, electronic stability program, hill hold assist, and the light and rigid Heartect platform.

Complementing the dynamic and sporty nature are the six colors, with two new color options — Lustre Blue and Novel Orange along with three dual-tone options.

MSIL started the producing and selling the Swift in India as early as 2005. The hatchback has sold a total of 2.97 million units there.

Meanwhile, Suzuki Philippines Senior Marketing Manager Odessa Gan told Zigwheels Philippines that the company currently has no plans on bringing in the all-new Swift to the local market.
