The brand will discontinue the Swift Sport, Jimny LCV, and Ignis in Europe. In addition, the Japanese car brand’s arm in the United Kingdom — Suzuki Great Britain (GB) — noted that the said EV introduction later next year will be followed by the rollout of more all-electric models up until 2030.
Further, Suzuki will discontinue the Swift Sport, Jimny (light commercial vehicle), and Ignis from its model range in Europe. The carmaker will then be left with a hybrid model lineup, which consists of the Swift, Vitara, S-Cross, and Across.
‘‘The departure of these models will make room for EV and enable us to compete during a period where our sales ratio of hybrid versus EV products will drive our business. We’re exiting the ICE (internal combustion engine) era with a focus on SUV’s (sport utility vehicles) and new Swift, then starting in the second half of 2025 we’ll begin a period of EV growth,” Suzuki GB Director Dale Wyatt said.
