Taguig rolls out free ride program for emergency cases
MANILA: The Taguig City local government has taken its response to medical situations one step further through its “Libreng Hatid at Sundo Para sa Mga May Sakit” program amid the ongoing enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Luzon.
The free ride program will cater to persons with disabilities (PWDs), pregnant women, senior citizens, dialysis patients, patients undergoing radiotherapy or chemotherapy, and other emergency cases in the city. It aims to assist the residents of Taguig and even other areas in the National Capital Region (NCR) requiring immediate medical attention in health centers and hospitals.
Taguig stated in a Facebook post that transport services could be availed through the hotline number, 0961-734-0834, two days before a scheduled medical appointment. Residents can text the hotline number from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Transport services are on a first-come, first-served basis. Patients need to indicate in the text message their name, address (which includes the pick-up point and the nearest landmark to the pick-up point), contact number, proof of medical appointment, and location of checkup (whether clinic, health center, or hospital).
Moreover, the local government also urged its residents to notify them of any coronavirus-related emergencies or cases through their 24/7 hotlines.
For COVID-19 emergencies, residents can call or text the numbers, 0966-419-4510 or 8-789-3200. As for non-COVID-19 emergencies, they can send their message to 0917-550-3727.
