TECO introduces New Models of Electric Vehicles in Partnership with Ropali
MANILA: The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) has announced that one of its members, TECO Electric and Machinery Co., Ltd., a renowned Taiwanese electric motor maker has partnered with a local motorcycle distributer, Ropali Corporation to launch its electric vehicles in the local market looking over the big sales and service network.
The partnership is emerging as a brand in the region by the name ROTECO. Initially, TECO started manufacturing industrial motor and later on established its large worldwide business. In Philippines, TECO is making electric motors from last 22 years and now it is expanding by opening a manufacturing facility in Subic.
The Ropali Corporation is a leading motorcycle distributer in Philippines and continues to deliver premium service from last 40 years. It also celebrated its 40th anniversary recently. Recently, both the companies introduced their new models of an electric tricycle and an electric Jeepney via ROTECO.
The Roteco ETrike is a small 2.3kw 5-seater tricycle holding a 2.3kw electric motor dedicated to replace smoke-belching traditional tricycles. It is capable to travel 80km in a single full charge. Meanwhile, the Roteco Electric Jeepney is a 21-seater vehicle powered by a 12kw electric motor, replaces the old diesel-run Jeepneys. It also comes with optional tap and pay card system.
EVAP President, Mr. Rommel Juan says that the new vehicles are meant to show the potential of EVs in the Philippines. “We hope that this joint venture will attract more foreign investors and contribute to the Philippines EV industry.”
