Tesla to Introduce an Autopilot mode and Come Up with Alternative Charging Method
MANILA: Tesla has achieved a great milestone in the world of electric cars. The latest Tesla Model S is testing out a unique “autopilot” feature. According to Autoblog, Only a few selective Model S owners will be able to test the autopilot function at present. The model S line is the fastest electric sedan in the world.
The company claims that it's not so much sophisticated to use the autopilot function. With the help of a camera, radar and an ultrasound sensor, the automatic alignment will be initiated through the autopilot function and it would be programmed for maintaining speed limits and use of an emergency brake. The system can sense and avoid any obstacle in vehicle's way including other vehicles and pedestrians. The Highway auto steer feature will facilitate drivers to sit idle and cover long distance drive without touching the wheel or pedals.
The alternative charging method includes an automated movement of the charger like a snake and the charger plugs itself into the vehicle automatically without any human intervention. The latter method is based on the use of the electromagnetic field for the energy transfer and charge the electric cars wirelessly.
The company has promised to add the Model X to its catalog by the end of 2015.The electric SUV will hold 3 rows of seats with large cargo space. The vehicle will be able to cover 200 miles of autonomy as well as include some innovative driving aids that were never seen before.
