Tokyo 2015 Preview: Toyota S-FR Sports Car Concept Unveiled
MANILA: Exactly three years back, it was heard that Toyota is in plans to add two more sports car to its lineup and today the Japanese car maker has revealed what definitely looks like one of those two models. S-FR acronym for “small, front-engine and rear-drive” is smaller than legendary Toyota 86 but still flaunts its beauty with dimensions of 3990 mm long, 1695 mm wide, and 1320 mm tall and wheelbase of 2480 mm.
Toyota describes the SF-R as a "concept vehicle that continues the proud heritage of the brand's fun-to-drive, lightweight sports cars." To be positioned as an entry-level model, this concept features sleek lightweight body and sporty interiors with a 2+2 layout. Seem to draw inspiration from both 86 Cb and 60s Sports 800 coupe, the concept shows off sloping roofline, distinct front end, flared wheel arches and short rear end.
The interiors are simply snazzy with major black and patches of neon green accents on door panels, seats, floor mates, and steering wheel. Complementing it well is a fully-digital instrument cluster. The absence of entertainment system is prominent from the image while the other features that eyes catch are controls mounted steering wheel, 12V power socket, climate control system, and USB ports for media players.
The powertrain of S-FR concept is not yet disclosed by the brand, but a 6-speed manual gearbox and fully independent suspension system are confirmed from the same.
