The Philippine version of the Camry has a number of similarities to its Thailand and original Japanese counterparts. To commemorate its local launch, we listed the top reasons to buy the new Toyota Camry.
New engine
For the all-new Camry, Toyota got rid of the old 3.5-liter V6 engine and replaced it with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. Displacement still remains the same, however, the automaker made a number of significant improvements to the overall engineering to make the engine more powerful. One of these is the engine’s thermal efficiency.
The 2.5V variant is available in three driving modes: Eco, Normal (default), and Sport. Both variants are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Sleek exterior redesign
The most noticeable changes on the all-new Camry is its major exterior overhaul. The front fascia features a sharp front end with slim headlights and a new, bolder dark gray lower grille. The side of the vehicle now also has gentler and sleeker curves and sweeps, giving it a more luxurious appearance. On the rear end, the taillights now sport a sharper shape. A new integrated trunk lip spoiler and dual exhaust tailpipe with a diffuser have also been added.
The Camry also comes LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, and a headlamp leveling device.
Premium interiors
Now, here comes the best part. Toyota went all out for the Camry’s interiors with an all-gloss-black theme. Leather and wood finishes can be found around the inside of the vehicle. The center console was designed to be driver-oriented with features such as the infotainment system easily within the driver’s reach. Toyota also took inspiration from Lexus by positioning the gear selector nearer the driver.
The high-end variant sports all-leather seats plus power seats, while the entry-level variant only gets fabric upholstery.
Advanced tech features
Toyota did not hold back in integrating as much tech features for the Camry. The Camry specs sheet now has the newest tri-zone automatic climate control system. However, the entry-level variant only has the standard dual-zone climate control system. By the driver’s seat are also some new features such as the new instrument cluster graphics and a heads-up display.
The high-end variant also has some more additional features such as an integrated touch panel on the armrest for controlling rear reclining seats, airconditioning, and audio system. Some other features include rear sun blinds, stability control, Toyota’s T-link system that allows smartphone mirroring, and cruise control, 2-phones handsfree ready settings for the infotainment system, and a 5-phone memory function for music streaming.
Both variants come with Display Audio with CD/DVD/MP3/FLAC which supports AUX, USB, Bluetooth and K2 Technology for high-resolution audio quality.
Verdict
The all-new Toyota Camry is an impressive vehicle, easily rivaling luxury sedans on the market today. Toyota succeeded in delivering that premium feel with its comfortable ride experience and a plethora of advanced tech features. Not only that, but it’s visual appeal definitely makes it a standout vehicle compared to version from the previous generations.
