Toyota continues on path to sustainable future with Corolla Altis Hybrid

MANILA: Toyota continues its drive to a greener environment by providing customers with an alternative mobility solution through its hybrid models like the Corolla Altis Hybrid.

In a previous study by Kantar, it was revealed that 75% of Filipinos are diligently searching for alternative solutions to help save the environment. Toyota has used this data to develop technological advancements that would make it possible to own a car while still being kind to the environment.

In 2015, the company launched the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2020, a long-term initiative that aims to reduce CO2 emissions and provide a positive environmental impact. Six challenges were involved in Toyota’s entire operations, from the manufacturing of new vehicles to plant emission, entire vehicle life cycle, water usage optimization, recycling technologies and systems, and connecting nature conservation activities.

In 1997, Toyota launched the Prius, which is the first mass-produced hybrid car in the world. It became popular in 2000 when it was released in the United States, captivating the interest of A-list celebrities. In 2020, the Japanese carmaker introduced the hybrid variant of the Toyota Corolla Altis which comes at an affordable price.

The Corolla Altis Hybrid is motivated by a 16-valve 1.8-liter engine and an electric motor. This powertrain generates a maximum power output of 97hp at 5,200rpm and maximum torque of 142Nm at 3,600rpm. The vehicle automatically switches between driving modes depending on the road and driving conditions: conventional engine only, electric engine only, or combination of the two. The Corolla Altis Hybrid gets a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that helps improve responsiveness and provide a smooth and quiet ride.

The Toyota Corolla Altis features a classy design with a clean-cut look on the outside and an elegant ambience on the inside. It is developed under the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) program that enhances the car’s performance and overall appeal. The Corolla Altis Hybrid variant comes with Toyota Safety Sense features that use advanced technology to protect the occupants while on the road. These features include a pre-collision system, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, lane departure alert, and dynamic radar cruise control.

The Toyota Corolla Altis Hybrid uses a self-charging electric battery, which means that the car won’t run out of power while on the road. When the battery runs low, it automatically switches to gas motor. The battery then starts to be charged without needing to be plugged into an outlet. This feature makes the hybrid vehicle more environment-friendly as there is less need to charge and consume electricity. Moreover, the battery comes with a five-year warranty.
