TPLEX to open La Union link on July 15
MANILA: DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) Secretary Mark Villar is set to inaugurate the La Union link of TPLEX (Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway) on July 15.
The final 11-kilometer segment of TPLEX connects to the Pozorrubio, Pangasinan exit and stretches all the way to Rosario, La Union cutting travel time from Tarlac to Rosario by an hour from the current 3.5 hours.
“With the completion of the last portion of originally designed TPLEX towards Rosario Rotunda (formerly Pugo–Rosario Road/Manila North Road Junction), traveling to the Ilocos Region and Baguio City in the Cordilleras will now be easy,” said Villar.
PCOO (Presidential Communications Operations Office) Secretary Martin Andanar congratulated Villar on the completion of the project and is set to join the opening next week.
“I congratulate si Secretary Mark Villar sa kanyang walang kapagurang trabaho (I congratulate Secretary Mark Villar for his tireless work),” said Andanar.
There are a total of nine exits on TPLEX, La Paz in Tarlac City; Victoria, Gerona; Paniqui and Moncada in Tarlac; Rosales, Urdaneta City and Pozorrubio in Pangasinan; and Rosario in La Union.
The TPLEX is an 88.85-kilometer, Php 24-billion four-lane toll road project implemented by DPWH involves the design, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance by San Miguel Corporation’s Private Infrastructure Development Corporation.
It is integrated with SCTex (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway) and the NLex (North Luzon Expressway) and connects the central and northern Luzon provinces to Manila.
