Traffic enforcers to have longer duty hours
MANILA: Traffic enforcers will have longer duties at nighttime by next month, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced.

Per MMDA, the nighttime duty of traffic enforcers will be extended until 12 midnight starting November 13-January 8, 2024.
Aside from that, traffic enforcers are ordered to avoid using mobile devices while on duty except when reporting traffic situations or accidents in their areas of assignment.
MMDA Acting Chairman Romando Artes said that apprehension of simple traffic violations that may cause traffic congestion shall be avoided.
In addition, excavation activities (which includes road reblocking works, pipe-laying, and road upgrading) will also be suspended from midnight of November 13-January 8, 2024. Exempted from the moratorium are flagship projects of the government, bridge repair and construction under the Department of Public Works and Highways, flood interceptor catchment projects, among others.
According to the MMDA executive, mall-wide sales will only be allowed on weekends and deliveries of shopping mall operators shall only be permitted during nighttime, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
"They will also be asked to adjust their operating hours from 11a.m.-11p.m. starting November 13,” he added.
The MMDA will also require shopping mall operators to submit respective traffic management plans to the MMDA for their respective mall sales and other promotional events two weeks before the scheduled dates of such events.
Likewise, the MMDA will implement the no-day-off, no-absent policy among traffic personnel, with different tasks for Undas.
The Road Emergency Group will help man public assistance centers with tents and ambulances to provide public assistance and immediately respond to any emergencies.
