The “Made in Modena” engine maintains the 90° V-shaped 6-cylinder twin-turbo layout, with 3.0 liters of displacement and dry sump, capable of delivering 621 hp at 7500 rpm and an outstanding 730 Nm of torque starting from 3000 rpm. A six-speed sequential gearbox is paired with the motor. The House of the Trident formally debuted its new gem of technology and performance, developed to bring the Maserati brand back to GT contests, after the announcement of the shakedown in early March and a thorough series of testing to tune up the car. It had already established itself there thanks to the victorious MC12, which ruled the track from 2005 through 2010.
The Maserati GT2 is a remarkable synthesis of Maserati's past, present, and future. It builds on the MC12's legacy while expressing the racing version of the super sports car's best potential by pushing the already exceptional 621-hp Nettuno V6 engine to its limit. Additionally, it is getting ready to set a new course for the Trident's future, which is committed to writing exciting new chapters in the history of motorsport.

It was created and developed to compete in championships or single events reserved for the GT2 class.
Davide Grasso, Maserati CEO, commented: “Our DNA and our spirit have always lain in racing. Our story began and developed from the track to the road. The decision to return to track racing forms part of a thorough strategic framework, inaugurated this year with the debut in Formula E, to which we have now added our return to the world of GT competitions. Now more than ever we want to rekindle and nourish that competitive passion that has always characterized and motivated us to achieve major milestones”.
The Centro Stile Maserati is where the Maserati GT2 was created. The men and women of Centro Stile concentrated their efforts on paying close attention to the design of every component of the vehicle, improving performance without losing sight of the fundamental qualities of the Maserati MC20. The front has a fresh look while keeping the distinctive Maserati architecture and adjusting to cooling and aerodynamic demands; the forms are functional to the dynamics of the car. To accommodate aerodynamic needs, the bonnet region has been altered to include particular ducts for hot air exhaust.
The Maserati GT2 cabin is based on the MC20, although it has been specifically designed for track use. The MC20's optimal driving position and straightforward, driver-focused design push the envelope even further, letting the driver concentrate on the race and maintain maximum control of the vehicle with clear visibility and easy access to the controls.
A new suspension geometry has been developed for the Maserati GT2, created initially in the Maserati Innovation Lab simulator with the driver and hardware in the loop, then tested on various tracks. It enhances the Maserati MC20’s already excellent handling in the most severe racing conditions, with no compromises on performance whatsoever.
