Meanwhile, Iñigo Anton — racing under Obengers Racing Team–Toyota Balintawak — was named the 2023 Formula V1 Pro Class Champion. Behind him in first place was Michael Bryan Co of Madkart Racing Team.
The presentation of winners was staged in Alabang, at the 25th-anniversary celebration of Tuason Racing.
“Really glad to be a part of this journey… It’s actually been five years I’ve been racing with TRS (Tuason Racing School) events, starting from Vios Autocross to transitioning into the simulator world during the pandemic, then back to Vios Cup, and now Formula V1. It’s always a very challenging competition with TRS events, but of course, I learn the most from them,” Anton said.
During Tuason Racing’s celebratory event, JP Tuason — the race academy’s founder and Chief Executive — also bared the company’s plan for 2024.
To begin with, Tuason Racing announced the 2024 1NZ Formula V1 Unity Cup. The race, according to the school’s head honcho, “is going to be a race with over 35 to 40 cars on the grid.”
Commencing on March 2, 2024 — JP Tuason’s birthday — the 2024 1NZ Formula V1 Unity Cup will be about “having a unified grid.”
The said event will take place at the Clark International Speedway.
Tuason Racing will also bring back its Champions of the Future program, which aims to “teach a new generation of drivers.” Per Tuason, TRS will take kids seven to 15 years old and get them behind the wheel of an electric kart.
Champions of the Future will see participants visit different electric karting tracks in the country and will end up at Madkart, which is a premiere karting facility.
Also returning is Tuason Racing’s Top Driver Challenge. The said initiative looks to “get instructors into TRS” to help train up-and-coming drivers.
Further, Tuason Racing will be launching a road safety campaign to give free road safety sessions for kids learning how to drive at schools and exclusive villages. According to Tuason, the road safety program will launch at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show.
Lastly, Tuason Racing will roll out the Tuason Racing Tech School to produce race mechanics that can support the up-and-coming race drivers.
“I want to thank everybody for all the support. It has been an amazing 25 years, and we only look into the future with you guys hand-in-hand,” Tuason noted.
