Until Sept. 30, get P100K off the new Honda Civic Type-R's P3.21-M tag
MANILA: Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has officially launched the new Civic Type-R that comes with a new sporty exterior and mechanical upgrades that further enhance the sedan’s thrilling driving performance.
The Civic Type-R was first introduced in the country in 2017. It has been phenomenally sought after by Filipino car enthusiasts as the first 100 Civic Type-R units made available for the local market were all booked within 48 hours upon the announcement of its arrival in the country.
The Civic Type-R has also been favored in race tracks due to its multiple recognitions, rich motorsports heritage, and several records broken in some of the world’s most demanding racetracks.
The new Civic Type-R features a refreshed exterior look while still showcasing a comprehensive aerodynamic package. The front and rear bumpers are equipped with new lower fog light surrounds. The car also features a new symmetrical design with sleek styling blades that results in a cleaner look. The front and rear bumpers, as well as the side skirts, sport a carbon fiber effect front splitter, side underspoilers, and rear diffuser with a sporty red accent line.
The car also features a new front grille design with a thinner grille beam. It boasts a 13% larger air intake area. Together with the car’s updated radiator core, this reduces coolant temperature by up to 10 degrees during demanding situations, such as track driving.
On the inside, the Civic Type-R features a sophisticated and stylish space. It comes with a high center console and striking Type-R spec bucket seats with a suede-effect red and black fabric trim. The low seating provides the driver and the front passenger a sports car feel. Meanwhile, the dashboard and the side door panels are embellished with carbon center inlays and red accents.
The cockpit is also equipped with a new Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and a new teardrop-style gear knob. These updates aim to provide an enhanced driving experience with optimized steering grip and better gear shift and precision. The exclusive Type-R serial number plate is also located below the gear shift lever.
The car also comes with a seven-inch full color Thin Film Transistor (TFT) LCD display that indicates different function readouts including driving mode display, LED gearshift indicator light, turbo boost pressure gauge, throttle/brake input display, and G-Meter.
It is also equipped with a seven-inch touchscreen display audio system that can be linked to a smartphone via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The control functions for the infotainment and climate control system now comes with additional physical buttons and tactile knobs for optimum functionality.
The New Civic Type-R is powered by a 2.0-liter VTEC turbo engine that generates a maximum power output of 310ps at 6,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 400Nm from 2,500 rpm to 4,500 rpm. The car gets a six-speed manual transmission with a rev match control system that helps sustain maximum power during gearshifts.
The car is now equipped with active sound control (ASC) that complements the triple exhaust system’s refined note. The ASC allows the Type-R’s audio system to produce an enhanced engine sound within the cabin during aggressive driving in Sport and +R modes, refining it during acceleration in Comfort mode to enhance the driving experience.
For a more responsive and sharper handling, the Civic Type-R’s suspension and brake systems have also been improved. The adaptive damper system’s control software has been updated to enable faster road condition evaluation and achieve improved damper reactions for better ride quality.
The new Civic Type-R is also equipped with Brembo four-piston calipers paired to a new two-piece floating 350mm front brake discs and new brake pads. The upgrades on the braking system help to improve thermal efficiency and decrease brake fade for heightened capabilities during high-intensity driving for enhanced track performance.
To provide safe mobility, the Civic Type-R is now equipped with Honda Sensing, a set of advanced driver-assistive features. These features use a monocular camera and wave millimeter radar to monitor and assess various road conditions in front of the car and alert the driver of possible hazards. Honda Sensing includes adaptive cruise control (ACC), collision mitigation braking system (CMBS), lane keeping assist system (LKAS), road departure mitigation (RDM), and lane departure warning (LDW).
Other safety features that come standard with the Civic Type-R include driver and front passenger airbags, side and side curtain airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), vehicle stability assist (VSA), hill start assist (HSA), and multi-view reverse camera with guidelines.
The new Civic Type-R comes in three colors: Championship White, Racing Blue, and Sonic Gray. It is priced at P3.21 million.
From July 27 to September 30, HCPI offers a special introductory discount of P100,000 on the vehicle.
