UPS applauds women leaders in Cebu manufacturing industry
MANILA: In line with the celebration of the International Women’s Month in the Philippines, United Parcel Service Co. (UPS) highlighted two women from Cebu, the Queen City of the South, who have been at the frontline of the production sector to drive success amid current challenges.
Expertise, commitment, and a keen eye for details are all required in the manufacturing industry. These are the qualities that the shipping manager of high-quality headwear from Hatquarter, Amabel G. Cale, discovered in her female-dominated team.
She said that Hatquarter lives up to its reputation for quality because of the women who design each headwear with utmost accuracy and detail.
Cale said, “The quality of product that we have maintained for many years now is thanks to the workmanship of many women in the company.”
As she has worked with the company since 2014, Cale supervised the shipping team of Hatquarter to guarantee documentation and import compliance for customers in over 70 countries. She has observed firsthand the distinct attributes of “girl power” and how this helped in the delivery of premium products.
Meanwhile, another production company also lauded its women-led workforce. Cebu Distribution Center Manager of TMX Philippines (the manufacturer of the well-known Timex watches), Corazon Aurora Lynn “Jing” Arcamo expressed her appreciation for her organization composed of a majority of women from senior management to production.
Arcamo explained, “Women in our organization have been very prominent and outspoken in leading their respective teams and delivering key results. Their patience and attention to detail are traits that enable our products to achieve the highest quality standards. Their detailed and advanced planning skills ensure excellence in daily operational executions and targets achieved.”
Arcamo highlighted the realization of TMX Philippines on the significance of inclusivity in making the company a secured place for work.
Arcamo, who has been with the company for more than 20 years, also creates regulations and guidelines to encourage positivity among the staff.
She explained, “My team handles warehousing, production, packaging and shipment operations for local and international distribution, but aside from operational excellence, I also ensure that my workers, mostly women, are empowered to work. I’m proud that TMX has a heart that listens and feels the sentiments of the population makes the organization a conducive place to work which we even call our second home.”
These leading production companies, with headquarters in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, provide services to the global market, entailing the need to comply to the highest operation and quality standards, as well as to continuously innovate and upgrade their businesses, particularly in the face of challenges brought about by the pandemic.
Both Arcamo and Cale rely on UPS for their logistics needs in shipping their products worldwide. The partnership with UPS appears to be a good fit because it helps them fulfill the needs and demands of their global audience.
UPS Philippines and Indonesia Managing Director Chris Buono said, “During this month of recognizing women’s achievements, and indeed, every other day of the year, UPS Philippines is proud to support these women-led teams within Hatquarter and TMX Philippines to uphold the levels of excellence and service quality that they are renown for.”
Cale was able to share her experiences with UPS, mentioning its responsive sales group in Cebu. “They always try to keep in touch and introduce solutions that prove helpful in decision making and are beneficial for our company and clients.”
Cale added, “During the pandemic, UPS played a vital role in transporting cargo back to our head office in Taiwan despite the limitations under the enhanced community quarantine. We achieved a 100% delivery performance rating for the year 2020 from our customer, thanks to the company's remarkable support.”
Arcamo cited the long-term collaboration of TMX Philippines with UPS and its essential support to businesses, especially in guaranteeing immediate shipments and providing flexible aid to rapidly offer solutions to rising concerns.
Arcamo said, “The nature of our business requires us to receive daily customer orders and have it picked up by UPS almost on the same day to meet shipping cut-off times. UPS has always been there to provide solutions and options, such that our products still arrive at their destinations on time.”
Buono explained, “We aim to deliver quality performance for our customers in spite of the ongoing challenges from the pandemic. Their success is our success, too. We achieve this by putting our customers like Hatquarter and TMX Philippines first, by being innovation-driven and delivering what matters for their business and their own customers.”
