Volkswagen PH showcases Tharu in latest roadshow

MANILA: Volkswagen Philippines is highlighting its crossover offering at various Ayala malls under its latest initiative.

Through the “Volkswagen Tharu Experience”, the model shall be on display inside three malls starting yesterday until March 24 to let mall goers appreciate the vehicle’s design and build. Volkswagen Philippines sales consultants are on-site and ready to accommodate customer inquiries and dealership test drive bookings.  

Here is the list of locations and dates where the Volkswagen Tharu Experience will be held:

• February 28-March 5, 2024: Amphitheater, UP Town Center, Quezon City   
• March 7-10, 2024: Ground Floor, Fashion Walk, Greenbelt Makati City  
• March 21-24, 2024: Ground Floor, Trinoma Quezon City 

“The Volkswagen Tharu is the brand’s latest global product that highlights the outstanding qualities our customers expect from every Volkswagen,” Volkswagen Philippines Chief Operating Officer Josh Altarejos said.  

“From its impeccable build quality to its advanced comfort, convenience, and safety features, the Volkswagen Tharu allows Filipinos to experience German design and engineering at its finest. We invite everyone to see, feel, and drive the Volkswagen Tharu for themselves to experience the pinnacle of compact crossover refinement,” he added. 

Outside, the Volkswagen Tharu wears long horizontal Matrix LED headlamp assemblies, LED daytime running lights, and an illuminated grille, tailgate, and rear logo. It also comes with sharp lines that complement the 18-inch alloy wheels.

Meanwhile, its cabin is outfitted with leather seats and high-quality surfaces embossed with Tharu logos and intricate stitching details.

Comfortable seating positions are guaranteed, thanks to its 12-way, electronically-adjustable front chairs while the rear bench can be folded 60:40 to give owners up to 1,543 liters of space.

Occupants can also enjoy the top-tier Volkswagen Tharu’s various amenities such as a gesture control-equipped 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless mobile phone charging dock, panoramic sunroof, hands-free electronic tailgate with virtual pedal 2.0, and multiple USB A and C ports.  

Under the crossover’s hood is a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline mill that can give out a peak of 158 horsepower and 250 Newton-meters of torque. It also comes with the Volkswagen BlueMotion Technology to ensure optimum fuel efficiency. The mill is mated to a seven-speed direct-shift gearbox.

Giving occupants a relaxed ride are the MacPherson front and multi-link rear suspension setup.

Further, the Volkswagen Tharu is equipped with six airbags front and rear, electronic stabilization program, electronic parking brake with auto hold, rear traffic alert system, and tire pressure monitor as standard — with the top-of-the-line having an additional 360-degree camera and intelligent parking assist system.

Below are the Volkswagen Tharu’s two trims and the respective suggested retail pricing:

• 300 TSI SE: P1.808 million
• 300 TSI SEL: P1.945 million.

Both trims are packaged with a three-year, or 100,000-kilometer vehicle warranty and a one-year round-the-clock emergency roadside assistance.
