Volvo C40 Recharge gets Top Safety Pick+ safety rating from US IIHS

MANILA: The fully electric Volvo C40 Recharge has earned the 2022 Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) award from the US Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS).

The IIHS awards the TSP+ to vehicles that "provide the highest level of safety," Volvo said in a release. 

The carmaker added that it is incorporating automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian, and cyclist detection systems as standard in all vehicles.

Volvo is introducing new safety features as part of its "vision that no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo." These safety equipment include speed cap in cars, run-off road protection and redesigned advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

In 2021, Volvo boasted that it was only brand with its entire line-up achieving IIHS TSP+ honors.

The C40 Recharge features an SUV and low-profile design. The crossover is equipped with built-in Google infotainment and a leather-free interior. The C40 Recharge is part of Volvo's goal to be a fully electric car company by 2030.

“As Volvo continues our electrification journey, safety remains at the heart of everything we do,” President and CEO of Volvo Car USA Anders Gustafsson said.
