Volvo XC60

The Volvo XC60 features a high-tech yet very homey-looking cabin. You have lots of room for four passengers. However, seating three tall and large passengers in the second row might be a bit of an issue because of the chunky central tunnel. But, on the plus side, its Nappa leather seats are very well-padded and provide all passengers with top-notch cushioning and ergonomics at all times. You also get a decent 468-L trunk space at the back, which is enough for your groceries and light to moderate baggage. 

Drivers get a premium cockpit that consists of a 12.3-inch driver display, a tailored leather steering wheel that is good-to-the-touch, and a Crystal Geartronic gearshifter, which offers a very satisfying shifting experience. 

In terms of entertainment and information accessibility, this SUV comes with an 11.3-inch free-standing center display that is equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Google Services and is connected to a 14-speaker Harman Kardon Premium Sound system. For added convenience and functionality, it also has a wireless charging pad, an advanced air purifier, and a rear phone storage. Younger-gen drivers and passengers will definitely like its power-operated panoramic sunroof.

In terms of dimensions, the Volvo XC60 measures 4,708 mm in length, 1,902 mm in width, and 1,651 mm in height. This SUV runs on an elegant-looking set of 20-inch 5-multi-spoked black diamond cut alloy wheels.

Upfront, the Volvo XC60 looks very smart and professional. It sports a front grille with a classy diagonal pattern. It features a confident-looking flare courtesy of its LED active highbeam headlights with Volvo’s ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED DRLs. 

Moreover, its side profile exudes a mix of sophistication and a little bit of ruggedness. Sharp character lines and well-proportioned curves add more detail to its silhouette. 

Similar to its front end, its rear also looks very clean and professional thanks to hypermodern-looking smoked LED combination lamps. It also gets a power tailgate for easier loading and unloading of cargo. Overall, the XC60’s design is not the flashiest or loudest in its segment, but it still gives off a commanding presence on the road.

The Volvo XC60 utilizes the brand’s active chassis with air suspension. Thanks to this suspension setup, you and your passengers can enjoy a pliant and very comfortable riding experience inside this SUV. It is always ready to take on sharp turns or corners with immense confidence and precision. And, on top of this, it has great absorption of bumps and other road imperfections. 

The Volvo XC60 is powered by a combination of a 2L, inline-4, turbo charger engine and an electric motor. This hybrid powertrain produces a maximum power output of 455 hp and a maximum torque of 709 Nm. Its electric motor delivers a WLTP pure electric range of 80 km. This SUV’s motor is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission system. It utilizes an electric all-wheel drivetrain. 

On the highway, this SUV is peppy and enthusiastic thanks to its hybrid powertrain’s linear power delivery. You’ll be able to effortlessly overtake slower vehicles with this SUV. It can still take on shorter-distance out-of-town trips using its pure electric range. However, its fuel consumption could drastically increase if driven spiritedly. That said, if you are light with the pedal, then you’ll be able to use this car on a daily basis in the city. 

Safety is one of the Volvo XC60’s strongest assets. It is equipped with Volvo’s Pilot Assist, an intersection autobrake, an on-coming mitigation by braking, an advanced exterior sensing technology, adaptive cruise control, front and rear park assist, blind spot information system, as well as a 360-degree camera with a 3D view among others. This SUV is equipped with two brake circuits, which are supported by an anti-lock braking system.  

In my opinion, the Volvo XC60 is arguably one of the most complete five-seater, mid-size luxury SUVs in the local market at the present time. It is very feature-packed, capable, and usable on a daily basis. It certainly delivers a high value for money.
