We might see the updated BMW i8 soon
MANILA: BMW i8 greeted the Philippines at the PIMS 2016 and now we might soon see its updated version with more power, as BMW i8 is due for an update from a long time.
According to BMWBLOG, the output of the hybrid system will be rated at 372 hp which is 357 hp in the existing model. The current i8 gets its power from a 1.5-litre engine which delivers 228 hp maximum power and 320 Nm peak torque. Accompanying the 1.5-litre mill is a 129 hp front motor along with an 8-hp rear motor.
The experts also claim that the 2017 BMW i8 will clock 100 kmph mark in less than 4.2 seconds due to revised powertrain. According to the reports, the 7.1 kilowatt-hour battery pack will be also replaced with a 10-kW-hrs. This large battery pack is already in use for the BMW i8 Formula E-safety car. This battery pack will also improve the electric range of the car which is 15 miles currently.
This year the German automaker improved the range of the i3 electric vehicle and now, we can see some significant updates in the BMW i8 as well. Let’s wait and see what BMW has in its store for us in the year 2017.
