Yes, BMW is working its first-ever M3 Touring model

MANILA: BMW is expanding its M range of sporty vehicles by testing and developing a slightly larger unit with the functionality of a Touring model. It will be aptly called the BMW M3 Touring.

It will be endowed with M-specific performance and an increase in available space, which was previously only found in an M5. This is not the first time BMW M GmbH has toyed around with the idea of transferring Touring qualities from the M5 to M3. It was in 2000 when a prototype was launched based on the third generation M3 but it unfortunately didn’t go into production.

This M3 Touring, which is in the early stage of its approximately two-year series development process, is a five-door unit with a six-cylinder M TwinPower turbo engine and a highly variable luggage compartment. It features racing-oriented performance while also having the trapping and comfort of an everyday unit.

The photo teaser of the tail shows four exhaust tailpipes that clearly show its M DNA will be a huge part of the model’s new body design.

Expect sightings of the BMW M3 Touring soon as part of its series maturity is going for test drives on public roads before it goes for intensive testing and tuning process on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring.
