Toyota Vios - Maintenance guide

Toyota Vios - Maintenance guide

MANILA: One of the major launches of 2018 came from Toyota Philippines, in the form of the all-new Vios sedan. Ours was the first country to receive the all-new version of the sedan, and we got a thorough look at the car via tones of teaser videos and spy shots. The new Vios really impressed us, as it showcased a totally new design that was dynamic, rugged, and to-the-point.

Now, before we start with its essential maintenance guide, here is some basic information about the Toyota sedan.

The 2019 Vios came with a lot of goodies as well. The revised model now offers features like daytime running lights, rear combination lamp with line guide, keyless entry, 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic air-conditioning, illuminated door sill scuff plates, drive mode switch with eco and sport modes, two rear USB ports, vehicle stability control, rear parking sensors, CD/radio head unit with Bluetooth, and 7 SRS airbag.

Toyota is offering the new Vios in six trim options, all of which are powered by either a 1.3- or a 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i four-cylinder unit. The former mill churns out a maximum power of 98 hp at 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 123 Nm at 4,400 rpm. The bigger engine, on the other hand, offers 106 hp at 6,000 rpm and 140 Nm at 4,200 rpm. In both cases, the power is transmitted to the wheels via a Continuously Variable Transmission unit.

The 2019 Vios price range starts from Php 659,000 and goes up to Php 1,095,000.

Now that you know enough about the Vios features and specs, it’s time to look into the maintenance manual. So, in today’s busy day and age, the basic car maintenance can easily be overlooked. However, taking care of your car comes with many benefits like better performance, high mileage, and even getting high resale value.

Here are a few simple maintenance tips to keep your Vios fit and fine -

1. Do not skip the scheduled service day of your car

The owner’s guide lists when your next car service is due, keep a note of it and do not skip. Such service includes checking and if needed replacement of parts like timing belts, spark plugs, and wires. Over time, other major car parts may even require replacement to keep the car running smoothly and efficiently. Though you can get your car serviced any place that offers the service but scheduling it with your dealer ensures genuine parts.

2. Air filter change

Air filter is nothing but lunges of your car. Getting them changed when needed can improve your car’s fuel economy and acceleration marginally under standard replacement cases. Also, acceleration time is known to increase with the change of old, clogged air filters.

3. Get the oil changed timely

Getting your car’s oil change timely is one of the most basic maintenance tips, avoiding which can even void your warranty. Not doing so may even lead to engine failure, which can burn a hole in your pocket. Also, get the system flush, so that everything operates the way it should. Getting the belts, hoes, pump, and fluids checked are all part of ensuring the cooling system works to the best of its ability.

4. Check the tyre pressure regularly

As the new Vios misses the tyre pressure monitor system, we’d recommend you to invest in a tyre gauge. Check your car’s tyre pressure frequently as this will help ensure better fuel economy, correct vehicle alignment, and cut down wear and tear of the tyre.

5. Wash it regularly

Washing your car often, if not daily, not only will it keep the Vios looking good but also helps maintain that new-car finish. Remember those bird droppings, chemical and dirt accumulation can strip away the wax and paint over time. In case you decide to wash your car at home, remember to use the products specifically designed for the car. As dishwashing detergent, hand soap, and glass cleaners can damage the protective wax coating.

That’s all required to done to keep your beloved Vios in perfect shape. Stay tuned with Zigwheels Philippines for more such helpful shots and more.
