Here are the electric motorcycles we want to see in PH this 2025

Filipinos have truly embraced electrification. Not only are we driving electric cars, but many of us are also using electric motorcycles as a means of last-mile (or last-kilometer) transportation  — allowing adopters to travel short distances sustainably.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What are the electric motorcycles that can make an impact in the local scene this 2025?

The electric motorcycles we want to see in the Philippines this year include the Yamaha NEO's, Alva One, and Strom Bull.
  • From what markets are these electric motorcycles?

These electric motorcycles are sold in Europe, Thailand, and Indonesia.
  • On that note, we are going to take a look at some of the electric two-wheelers we want to see arrive on Philippine soil this 2025.

    Yamaha NEO’s

Currently for sale in Europe, the Yamaha NEO’s is the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer’s entry into the region’s electric motorcycle market.

Per its website, the Yamaha NEO’s uses an electric motor paired with a 50.4-volt (V), 19.2-ampere (Ar) lithium-ion battery that dishes out some 3.0-3.3 horsepower (hp).

Making the Yamaha NEO’s an interesting electric motorbike is that it can be equipped with up to two battery packs, which ultimately extends the emissions-free two-wheeler’s range.

Below is a table revealing the different ranges, according to the number of respective batteries fitted in the Yamaha NEO’s:

    Number of batteries

    Range (in km)

    First battery rage

    37

    Second battery range

    38.5

Yamaha Motor Philippines is yet to release an electric motorcycle model. On that note, the addition of the NEO’s to its lineup could give the Shizuoka-headquartered company’s Philippine subsidiary an answer to the Honda EM1:e

    Strom Bull, Sailfish

Strom is a Thai electric motorcycle brand that could make a name for itself here in the Philippines. We have seen an influx of Chinese electric mobility brands and the author believes that Filipinos would be excited to try out products from a company based elsewhere.

Case in point, the Strom Bull.

Unlike most electric motorcycles we have seen launched in the past few years, the Strom Bull looks more like a motorbike running on internal combustion power. In fact, it looks like a cross between the Suzuki Gixxer 155 and the Yamaha MT-07 – both of which are sold locally.

Despite the similarities, the Strom Bull uses an all-electric drive with a mid-drive electric motor that puts out power similar to a 1,000 cubic centimeter engine, according to the manufacturer. Below are some of its notable features:

    • 130-140 kilometers per hour (kph) top speed
    • High-resolution LCD instrument cluster
    • 17-inch wheels
    • 234-kilogram total weight

Strom also produces other varieties of electric motorcycles and another nameplate we would want to see here is the Sailfish.

With the continued popularity of modern retro scooters in the Philippines, an electric motorcycle that boasts similar design cues might appeal to today’s motorcycle buyers who are also conscious about their rides’ effect on the environment.

It is powered by a 1,500-watt (W) electric motor, which can be paired with different batteries that range from 2.16 kilowatt hours (kWh), 2.88 kWh, 4.32 kWh, and 5.76 kWh. Depending on the battery, the range can go from 80-200 kilometers (km).

    Alva One

Alva One is an electric motorcycle available in Indonesia. There, it is offered with an electric motor that puts out some 5.3 hp with 46.5 Newton-meters.

It draws power from a 60 V, 45 Ah battery that offers a top speed of 90 kph and an estimated range of about 70 km

    Final thoughts

The local electric motorcycle segment has the potential to blow up like its internal combustion engine counterpart. With many Filipinos relying on two-wheelers as a means of transportation, the aforementioned models could help add variety to the current electric motorbike lineup we have today.
