  • It has created an impactful effect in the local motorcycle landscape, that it earned the nickname “underbone king.”

On that note, we’re going to take a look at the two available variants of the Suzuki Raider R150 in the Philippines.

    Suzuki Raider R150 Carburetor-type

The Suzuki Raider R150 Carburetor is a popular choice for motorcycle riders who prefer to have the ability to easily tweak the performance of their bikes — without breaking the bank.

That’s because carburetor-equipped motorcycles allow for easy tuning to fit the needs of their owners. Whether it’s getting more power or making the most out of your fuel, carb-type motorbikes allow for minor adjustments that could translate to major performance.

Further, carburetors are easier to maintain and are cheaper to replace, making the Suzuki Raider R150 a practical choice.

Outside, the Suzuki Raider R150 Carburetor gets blue lens halogen headlights paired with halogen turn signals that add character to its sporty and athletic cowling. Below it is its telescopic front suspension that is oil damped with coil springs. Here one will find a 17-inch wheel with 70/90 17 38P tubeless tires.

It also has a smooth side profile with plenty of contours that create a sexy silhouette. Highlighting the flanks of the Suzuki Raider R150 Carburetor are minimal fairings that barely hide the engine powering the two-wheeled steed.

Speaking of which, it is equipped with a four-stroke, oil-cooled, four-valve, 147.3 cubic centimeter (cc) engine paired with a manual six-speed constant mesh transmission system. This setup makes as much as 15 horses with 12.4 Newton-meters of torque.

The rear end of the Suzuki Raider R150 Carburetor wears a sleek cluster of lights with the turn signals neatly tucked in the light assembly. Here, one will also see the bike’s swingarm with monoshock with the 17-inch rear wheel shod with 80/90 17 44P tubeless tires.

While atop the saddle, the rider can check relevant riding information through the Suzuki Raider R150 Carburetor’s instrument cluster, which offers a mix of both analog and digital gauges.

The Suzuki Raider R150 Carburetor is available in three color options: Metallic Triton Blue (the halo color of the carb-type nameplate), Celebration Red, and Titan Black. It is priced at P106,900.

    Suzuki Raider R150 Fi

The more modern interpretation of the Suzuki Raider R150 is its fuel-injected (Fi) iteration. This variant is favored by modern riders who value improved performance and impressive fuel efficiency.

Fuel-injected motorbikes are still considered practical, granted you show them proper care and maintenance. Its components — despite being more expensive — are durable and will not break down easily.

Customization, on the other hand, require the use of special tools and trained professionals.

Despite sharing similar underpinnings, the carb-type and the Fi model have several differences that will allow a motorcycle buyer to tell which is which.

At the fore of the Suzuki Raider R150 Fi is an LED headlamp housed in a Gundam-esque cowling. The fascia wears a more angular design, resembling the gladiator-like helmet worn by the Japanese mecha icon. It shares the same oil damped telescopic front suspension with coil springs. As well as a 17-inch wheel, also wrapped in 70/90 17 38P tubeless tires.

To its sides are sharper-looking fairings that not only offer a more snappy look but also facilitate proper cooling and aerodynamics. Protruding is its 147.3cc gasoline mill that is a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, four-valve motor. It is married to a six-speed transmission system. In unison, this setup makes some 18 horsepower with 13.8Nm of torque.

At the back is a similar lighting setup that combines the stop lamp and the turn signals for a more stable and cohesive tail end. Below it is a suspension system that houses a 17-inch wheel complemented by 80/90 17 50P tubeless tires.

The Suzuki Raider R150 Fi gets a full-digital instrument cluster that can make reading riding data easier, especially when one rides at night. According to the motorcycle brand, the design of the said instrument panel was inspired by the GSX-S1000.

Suzuki is offering the Raider R150 Fi in two editions, Rugged Edition and Sport Edition. Through the former, motorcycle buyers can choose among color options Metallic Matte Stellan Blue, Candy Matte Bordeaux Red, and Metallic Matte Fibroin Gray. The latter, on the other hand, has the colors Tital Black and Pearl White Ivory.

The Suzuki Raider R150 Fi is priced at P119,900.

    Final thoughts

Choosing between the Suzuki Raider R150 Carburetor and Raider R150 Fi will be a matter of preference.

As we’ve mentioned earlier, the carb-equipped model is better for cheap, fast, and easy tweaks while the latter is great for performance, fuel-efficiency, and longevity.
