The Suzuki Smash is one of the more popular models in the Philippine small-displacement underbone bike segment.

It is considered one of the top choices by Filipino motorcycle shoppers in the category thanks to its modern design, decent features, and reliable Japanese engineering. And thanks to the newly added fuel-injected variant, more and more riders are drawn to the benefits they are about to reap upon choosing the Suzuki Smash as their ride of choice.

But what about those who can’t get a hold of a Suzuki Smash or opt to get a model from a different brand? On that note, we take a quick look at your other options should you wish to get a dependable daily driver similar to the Smash motorcycle.

Honda Wave RSX

The Honda Wave RSX is a good alternative for those looking to get their hands on a Japanese-made small-displacement underbone bike that can be used for a variety of applications.

To begin with, the Honda RSX boasts a strong front design with both modern and attractive features. Its headlamp has an automatic headlight on feature, plus its turn signals are neatly tucked in on its front fairings.

It also has impressive new stickers on the side panels and even has a full chain case cover to keep the component clean and protect the rider from getting hurt by accidentally getting his or her fingers caught in the chain.

Powering the Honda RSX is a 109 cubic centimeter (cc) four-stroke, air-cooled engine paired with a manual four-speed constant mesh transmission. This setup clocks in at 67.8 kilometers per liter making it a decent choice for those who are looking for a fuel-efficient ride.

TVS Neo NX

Another viable choice when buying motorcycles in this segment is the TVS Neo NX.

The Indian underbone model can be used either as a daily commuter or a delivery partner. That’s because it already comes with a front carrier out of the factory, allowing its owners to carry loads and other lightweight items without the need to purchase aftermarket parts and make unnecessary modifications on their bikes.

In addition, it can optionally be had with a rear carrier out of the box for added versatility.

At its core is TVS’ 109cc engine mated to a four-speed semi-automatic transmission. And while the fuel rating is not disclosed, TVS claims that the Neo NX is a fuel-efficient motorbike.

Kymco Visa R

Kymco is a brand popular for its large and often expressway-legal scooters. But the Taiwanese brand also sells small-engine underbone bikes here in the Philippines — case in point, the Visa R.

The Kymco Visa R wears somewhat identical features as the bikes in this list but it overall has a more sexy silhouette and its turn signals at the front are integrated into the cowling, where the headlamp sits.

Other notable features of the Kymco Visa R is its wavy front disc brake, the aforementioned lighting setup, as well as its rear grab bar — which appears to be made ready for a top box.

It is slapped with a 107cc engine married to a four-speed constant mesh transmission system. Like the abovementioned TVS Neo NX, the fuel efficiency of the Kymco Visa R is not disclosed.
