Yamaha Mio i 125: 3 Reasons to buy
For the young rider rearing to get outside, the Yamaha Mio is like a passport. Going by its sales through the years, most of you have probably already set your mind about buying this scooter. For those needing a little more convincing, here are three major reasons why the Yamaha Mio i 125 is a great choice.
Styling
Styling is necessary. Yamaha has always been very trendy in this area and the Mio i 125 is no exception. Only Yamaha would think of designing a scooter around the letter M.
Its front fascia is in the shape of M as is the rear grab rail – from both the top and back. And somehow this results in something genius. The angular theme is continued everywhere. Even the emblem is an edgy 3D embossed piece. The body panels are accentuated with stunning graphics which go very well with all the color schemes on offer. Smaller details like the exhaust aren’t left untouched either and look especially muscular for a diminutive 125cc. Same goes for the instrument cluster that looks like a work of art with its angular indicators surrounding the speedometer.
Practicality
Its compact dimensions and light weight make it easy to carve through traffic at any speed. The wheels are large and the suspension just right to absorb all that the road can throw at you. The seating position is also upright enough to aid in easy maneuvering without straining the wrists. There is 10 liters of storage under the seat that is enough for raincoats and then some. Yamaha knows the market and knows how easy it is to have your beloved scooter stolen. This is why they provide the key with an integrated keyhole shutter. They also provide it with an answer back system to tell your scooter apart from all the others sharing parking space with it. The ubiquity of the Mio in Philippines means that it is very easy to get repaired should the need arise.
Fuel efficiency
The engine produces a healthy 7 kW of power that is enough for a pillion and then some. At the same time, it is good enough for 45 kmpl. How does Yamaha achieve this amazing mileage figure? There is a lot going on under the seat to achieve this number. The Mio i 125 engine has Yamaha’s Blue Core technology to thank for its mileage. This not only gives it better mileage but, also more power. This feat is achieved by optimizing combustion by creating a tumble flow through better valve design and a more compact hemispherical combustion chamber. This allows it to have a higher compression ratio which gives it more power.
The engine also uses Yamaha’s DiASil cylinder that uses aluminum to get three times better cooling than steel. This is compounded by a piston cooler that transfers cooling oil to the pistons themselves. That’s not all. To reduce friction the engine also uses a roller rocker arm along with forged pistons that are lighter and therefore run smoother. All these innovations lie within the engine. There is more work from the outside. The instrument cluster has an eco-indicator that shows the best speed for best fuel economy. There is also a stop-start system that shuts off the engine after 5 seconds of idling to save fuel during traffic stops. Starting again is easy too because of the quick start system. The stand itself turns the engine off when in use. The silencer also has a three-way catalytic converter that monitors exhaust quality. That’s a lot of innovation for a mere 125cc scooter.
With such a lengthy list of features and such a competitive price, buying the Yamaha Mio i 125 is a literal no-brainer. But you probably knew that already.
