2019 Ducati Diavel 1260 enters production
MANILA: The wait of Ducati fans is finally over as the production of 2019 Ducati Diavel 1260 has started at the Borgo Panigale works in Bologna. The bike will be available to buy from February. Available in two trims, base and ‘S’, the new Ducati Diavel 1260 comes with improved ergonomics, reliable frame, and blazing V-twin 1260 engine.
Unlike the XDiavel’s forward foot pegs, the new Diavel gets them in the middle. The seat on the new 2019 Ducati Diavel 1260 is more upright that is as low as 780 mm. The wet weight of the bike is 244 kg.
Talking about the bike’s features, the Diavel S gets LED daytime running lights, handlebar switches with backlight, and Ducati Multimedia system which is, however, not available in all the world markets. The multimedia system comes with a 3.5-inch TFT LCD colour display and connects with the rider’s smartphone for monitoring bike’s performance and viewing essential information. Along with this, the Diavel S gets Marchesini wheels with machined highlighting. The Diavel base variant, on the other hand, gets alloy wheels.
Built on the trellis frame, the Ducati Diavel 1260 base variant suspends on the 50 mm USD front adjustable forks and preload adjustable and rebound rear monoshock suspension setup. Whereas, the ‘S’ version gets 48 mm Ohlins USD forks at the front and a fully adjustable Ohlins monoshock unit at the back. Up-and-down quick-shifter is also present.
The 2019 Ducati Diavel 1260 rides on 8- and17-inch alloy wheels at the front and rear, respectively. The rear tyre is wrapped with 240 mm rubber, which makes up for the wider rear profile. For braking, Brembo brakes is what the company has opted for. While the base Diavel 1260 gets M4.32 callipers, the higher ‘S’ variant is benefitted from M50 Brembo Monoblocs.
Additionally, there is a Bosch Cornering ABS Evo and different riding aids like traction control system and riding modes that are offered as standard with both the variants.
Powering the bike is the Testastretta DVT V-twin, liquid-cooled twin-spark 1260 cc engine with Desmodromic Variable Timing that produces 161 PS of power at 9,500 rpm and 129 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. The wheels of the bike are powered by a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch and chain final drive system. This is opposed to the XDiavel that uses a belt instead.
The Diavel base is available in only one color option, Sandstone Grey, while the Diavel S gets Sandstone Grey of Thrilling Black/Dark Stealth color option.
