2019 MV Agusta F3 800 to get electronics upgrade
MANILA: Just like the high-end superbikes, the new MV Agusta F3 is expected to come with an inertial measurement unit (IMU), which will be responsible for powering advanced tech features like cornering ABS and slide-control. Prior to this, no supersport bike comes with such advanced tech features. Only the high-end bikes like Ducati Panigale V4 S come with such avant-garde technologies.
The 2019 MV Agusta F3 will be the first supersport bike to feature technologies like cornering ABS, slide control, and IMU. However, this is not the first time when the bike maker has gone out of the way to introduce high-tech features on its bikes. Back in 2011, it was MV Agusta that introduced traction control on a supersport bike.
Talking about the bike, the new MV Agusta F3 draws power from a 798cc, three-cylinder engine that churns out a max power of 148PS at 13,000 rpm and a peak torque of 88Nm at 10,600 rpm. It tips the scale at just 173kg, thanks to its lightweight yet strong steel tubular trellis frame aided by a single-sided aluminium swingarm. As a result, the bike can clock a top speed of 269 kmph.
The F3 800 comes with a Marzocchi USD front fork with adjustable preload and rebound compression along with a Sachs suspension unit at the rear paired to preload adjustment, rebound, and compression damping. The braking department is sound as well, with Brembo brakes - 320mm dual discs at the front and a 220mm single disc at the back. The standard ABS and the 8-level traction control on the outgoing model are set to upgrade with cornering ABS and slide control for the 2019 model.
