All-new BMW R 1300 GS Adventure now in PH

MANILA: BMW Motorrad Philippines has formally expanded its adventure line with the introduction of the all-new R 1300 GS Adventure.

Revealed last October 24, the launch of the new offering came days after the San Miguel Corporation-led motorcycle distributor posted a teaser over its social media pages (Facebook and Instagram accounts).

Per the German marque’s local arm, its newest product comes with revised ergonomics, new design elements, and latest technologies that takes the “cornerstones of BMW Adventure to a whole new level.”

Here are the all-new R 1300 GS Adventure’s specifications.

Abroad, the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure measures 2,280 millimeters (mm) long; 1,012 mm wide; and 870-890 mm saddle height — with a 1,534-mm wheelbase. Its tank has the capacity to carry 30 liters of fuel.

Form, function

The all-new BMW R 1300 GS Adventure’s overall commanding look complements the following fitments:

• all-LED illumination system (headlamp, daytime running lights, two extra-flat auxiliary headlamps, and turn signals)
• uncovered tank
• large windshield
• two transparent deflectors
• rubberized tank trays

The aforementioned amenities — among others — made it a kilogram heavier than the model’s predecessor.

In addition, the all-new BMW R 1300 GS Adventure features an aluminum lattice tube — replacing the previous tubular steel construction. Assuring steering precision and stability for the two-wheeler are its EVO Telelever front wheel guide with flex element and revised EVO Paralever rear wheel guide.

The new electronic dynamic suspension adjustment interlinks the dynamic adjustment of the front and rear damping with a corresponding alteration of the spring stiffness — depending on the chosen riding mode, condition, and maneuvers. The automatic tuning assures load compensation.

It also has an adaptive vehicle height control feature that adjusts the height of the motorcycle automatically to suit operating conditions. The vehicle goes down by 30mm when stationary or at low speeds and the standard height is 20mm lower.

The motorcycle sits on cross-spoke wheels (19-inch for the front, 17-inch for the back).

Powertrain

Under the tank of the all-new BMW R 1300 GS Adventure is the 1,300 cubic centimeter twin-cylinder mill, four stroke, boxer-type engine, which is said to be the brand’s most powerful boxer engine to be produced in series.

The said mill has the capacity to deliver up to 145 horsepower and 149 Newton-meters of torque — allowing the adventure tourer to zoom 0-100 kilometers per hour (kph) in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of around 200 kph.

It also offers seven drive modes:

• Rain
• Ride
• Eco
• Enduro
• Dynamic
• Dynamic Pro
• Enduro Pro

Sending the output to its wheel is the claw-shift six-speed gearbox via the hydraulically-activated wet clutch with anti-hopping function.

Guaranteeing the stopping power are the twin disc brake system with anti-locking system.

Technologies

As mentioned earlier, the all-new BMW R 1300 GS Adventure is rich in technology.

It is fitted with a 6.5-inch digital display in tandem with the BMW rotary selector.

The motorcycle has Riding Assistant system made up of the following driver assistive amenities like the active cruise control, front collision warning, lane change warning, and rear end collision warning.

In addition, the all-new BMW R 1300 GS Adventure also has other safety, security, convenience, and technological features:
