All-new Ducati Panigale V4 range revealed
MANILA: At the 2018 Word Premiere event, the Italian bike maker has introduced its updated flagship range. Yes, the all-new Ducati Panigale V4 range is revealed in three trims which include the base, S, and Speciale. This will be the first ever range from Ducati to feature a four-cylinder engine, replacing the L-Twin format. Considering the output of this new engine, Ducati claims to produce 214 hp of maximum power and 123.5 Nm of peak torque.
To achieve better low- to mid-range torque, the 1,103cc V4 engine uses 81mm bore similar to the one used in MotoGP bikes. The power figure can be further boosted to 226 hp with all-titanium racing exhaust, which is specially made by Akrapovic according to the Ducati Corse specifications. The engine is further mated to a six-speed gearbox with Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) up and down.
In the base variant, 43mm Showa Big Piston Fork (BPF), fully adjustable for preload, compression, and preload is equipped while at the back, fully adjustable Sachs shock is placed. Whereas, S and Speciale use Öhlins NIX-30 fork along with steering damper, electronic semi-active control, and a rear shocker. With the electronic suspension, you get a choice between manual mode or an automatic semi-active ‘Dynamic’ mode.
The 2018 Panigale range also gets a new 5.0-inch high-resolution screen and the advanced electronic package with six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (6D IMU). Other standard features include ABS Cornering Bosch EVO, Ducati Traction Control EVO (DTC EVO), Ducati Side Control (DSC), Ducati Quick Shift up/down EVO (DQS EVO), Ducati Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control, and Ducati Power Launch. The braking duties of new Ducati Panigale range feature 330mm discs in the front and a single 245mm disc with a two-piston caliper at the rear.
However, the Speciale variant will be limited to just 1500 units and will be offered in a unique color scheme, carbon fibre, and mudguards. It will be also equipped with exclusive Alcantara seat, racing screen, and a few more exclusive elements.
