Angkas Food helps sate hunger during time of Coronavirus (Covid-19)

MANILA: In an effort to provide livelihood for its bikers while also adding to the very limited food delivery options currently available during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ)Angkas Food was launched yesterday by the popular motorcycle  ride-hailing  service.

The food delivery service goes live today, March 24, and will be operational from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There will be a delivery charge of P60 that covers the first  three kilometers, with an additional P10 for every kilometer for up to five kilometers.

Angkas says it is not taking any commission from this new service, maintaining that 100% of the delivery charge will go to the driver

According to the Angkas Facebook statement, food delivery is not the company's expertise, and understands that there are more competent services in the market. However, Angkas counters that customers should not worry since the service is legitimate.

As of this time, customers can order from food establishments like Made in HK, where they can try out fried rice specialties; The Smokeyard, famous for smoked brisket and pulled pork; and the Crazy Bagnet, where they can order bagnet a la carte and bagnet rice bowls.

Customers can also order hand-tossed pizza from Pomodoro Pizza; callos and lengua from Wobbly Pan, Spanish Bistro; tacos from A’toda Madre; and pork barbecue from Ineng’s Special BBQ.

For customers to place their orders, they need to contact their preferred food establishment, pay for their food, and provide their contact information for the Angkas riders to follow up with the orders. While Angkas Food is encouraging cashless transactions for public safety purposes in line with the Covid-19 ECQ, delivery fees should be in cash only.

As such, the company has instituted a no-touch delivery rule. Customers will get their orders from the motorcycle seat or their doorstep, while the driver maintains a safe distance.

They have a list of restaurants where they have acquired partnership as well. Customers can check out the list here.
