AUB serves up low interest rates on big bikes
MANILA: Asia United Bank (AUB) has dropped the interest rate on its Big Bikes Loan (BBL) program to make big bikes more accessible to Filipinos.
From a 0.64% monthly interest rate in 2020, the rate on the BBL program is now down to 0.54% per month. AUB also offers zero interest on the Italian big bike brand MV Agusta for 12- and 24-month loans from July 1 to September 30.
Since 2016, AUB has been offering the best deals on bikes with a minimum engine displacement of 400cc. The BBL program offers a loan amount of at least P200,000 and flexible loan payment terms of 12 to 36 months on 22 big bike brands and the iconic Vespa to cater to the needs of the clients who are into leisure travel and adventure.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Filipino bikers are not putting aside their passion for riding. “In fact, there has been a dramatic increase in AUB motor vehicle loan applicants since the pandemic,” AUB Consumer Lending Division Head Leo Intalan said in a release. “We expect an increasing trend in new loan applicants with the easing of quarantine restrictions and the changing dynamics in urban mobility.”
Intalan also stated that in 2020, AUB was able to book new loans at almost the same level as in the previous year. Meanwhile, its new loan bookings as of May 2021 are already more than double than the previous year.
AUB has also partnered with social media influencer Zach Lucero to promote awareness among big bike enthusiasts, especially the younger set. The 42-year-old media personality and rock band founder manages the YouTube channel Makina, which now has over 380,000 subscribers. The channel features motorcycle news and power rides in and outside the country. Makina’s Facebook page has also earned almost 700,000 followers.
AUB also supports Lucero’s online motorcycle custom show entitled Moto Builds Pilipinas, as well as the Makina Moto Show that was held this year. This is part of the bank’s “Ride Solo” digital marketing campaign the advocates the use of big bikes to help promote local tourism while observing health and safety protocols.
In a statement, Lucero said, “Makina’s initial aim was to communicate and promote big bikes. With AUB’s drive to support that segment, everything came into place and was hand in glove. AUB made big bikes reachable to more people and made our mission easier.”
