Could a 4-cylinder 250cc ZX be in the works?
MANILA: What comes to your mind when you hear the words “four-cylinder motorcycle”? Well, images of the likes of Ducati Panigale, BMW S1000RR, Honda CBR1000RR, and others must pop-up inside of your head, right? Let’s take you back in the time for a bit. Between 1989-1997, Kawasaki used to produce a 250cc four-cylinder motorcycle. No, don’t scratch your head, the Japanese automaker actually made a four-cylinder 250cc motorcycle back in the time. The bike was called Kawasaki ZX2R. And if the rumours are to be believed, the motorcycle might just be reincarnating very soon.
Most of the underbone, backbone, and scooter riders choose a sub 250cc motorcycle as their first premium motorcycle, don’t they? However, the flair of a four-cylinder big bike is always missing in these smaller premium bikes. Everything from the sound, power, and agility are nowhere to be found on the single- or dual-cylinder 250cc motorcycles. The rumoured ZX25R could very well fill the hole and provide the riders with a similar if not identical experience.
Courtesy of the four cylinders and a racing exhaust, the Kawasaki ZX25R is said to flaunt a maximum power of 50 PS and “should” sound like a big bike. All of the LED lights, upsidedown forks, performance brakes with ABS, and other amenities should make their way to the motorcycle as well.
Reports have also said that there is already a prototype of the four-cylinder 250cc motorcycle at the Kawasaki's Indonesian plant. If and when the Kawasaki ZX25R makes its way out of the facility, the Yamaha R3/R25 and the Honda CBR250RR are sure to end up in big trouble. Are you excited for the reincarnation of a four-cylinder 250cc Kawasaki?
